I moved here in August of 2004. I love the apartment size, rent price and the groundskeeping. I did not see one roach in the first year. Now I may see one every 2 months. Since being here, I have had a bad kid throw a stick at me for ignoring him while I was in the laundry room. I promptly chased him down the street. I could not catch him, but I did call the police. Come to find out, he lived below me. He was about 10 years old and was scared to death. I decided to not press charges because I have heard numerous fights between his parents and on occasion, I have heard him getting a beating. I felt sorry for him, but I did complain to the rental office. They informed me that those renters were in the process of being evicted due to numerous complaints. As a single woman, I have had a man approach me in the local Walgreens telling me that he sees me everyday and even saw me the day I moved in. Pretty scary because I leave for work at 5:00 am and arrive home at 6:30 pm. My car stolen in December 2005, but it was recovered 2 days later. Some kids from Cherry Hill (projects about a mile down the road) took it for a joy ride. I called the police on the new neighbors that moved in below me after the others were evicted. I swear there was domestic violence going on every other day. One time the guy beat her so bad, it continued into the hallway with her screaming for her life. I called 911--only to see them back together 2 days later. After 6 months, they too were evicted. An elderly couple who lived next door to me moved out (I live on the 3rd floor). A young lady and her boyfried moved in. Within one month, there was a police raid at 2:00am. She reappeared about 2 weeks later and now there is constant traffic in and out of the apartment. Every now and then, I smell weed coming from the apartment as I make my way up the stairs. There are undercover police officers that sit in the vehicles and I know it is only a matter of time before this dumb girl's apartment is raided again. A couple of months ago the apartment complex sent out a survey. After retrieving the survey from my mailbox, I ordered a pizza. It never came. I called the pizza place only to have them tell me the pizza man was robbed. It was scary because I went out to my vehicle after ordering my pizza. The robber had to be out there waiting for a good target. I am thinking about moving, but after reading the reviews of other locations I thought about moving to--I do not know. Arbuta Arms is a decent place if you have law abiding neighbors (the rest of my neighbors speak and are QUIET).Some places will not deliver here day or night--some deliver only during the day. The buildings are old, but the windows are insulated (no high bills for me), and the kitchens are up to date. I too have seen rats around the dumpster. Without the crime, it is a good place to live.
