I have lived in the Atrium for a year, and I'm moving out only because my roommate has decided not to live there any more, and I am getting my own place. I have had a friendly, nice experience in that year and have very few complaints. You'll notice that some people complain about the air conditioning going out, or the heat stopping in the dead of winter, but to me these are little quirks that one has to expect when living in a renovated building. Not every component is new, and when the temperatures are extreme outside, these systems are sometimes overloaded.

I felt that the Atrium was a safehaven in a city that can turn on you in a single city block. Never once did I feel unsafe inside the building. There were times I was uncomfortable outside as I was asked for money or when I had to walk around a person so high or drunk they could barely stand up. A high police presence always assuaged my fears though.

The inside is a palace. The staff is always kind, polite, and pleasant. One of the highlights of my day is coming home to see Ms. Daisy smiling at the front desk, asking about how I am. Rhonda is always understanding of problems and is very professional.

The parking situation could be a little annoying at times, as the garage was under renovation construction most of the time, but never so bad that I couldn't park. While I was often annoyed that the garage door on the 7th floor remained open, I never had security problems, and I understand that Southern Management does not own the garage, and can only ask the garage to fix the door. They cannot force anything.

If you can put up with the slightly dodgy day-time street atmosphere, live here. If you drive to work, you can enter the building from the garage, and never have to even go outside in the neighborhood.

Worth every penny.

i lived in the atrium for 2 years, and Ms. Daisy is the only person that is nice there. Rick will enter your apartment without permission. Rhonda - the manager - is just horrible. Professional? You must be working for Atrium - or have never had to talk to her longer than a few seconds. She is rude, very unprofessional (=makes up issues to make you pay for e.g. dirty apartment at moving out - even when it is not, etc.). I was thinking of suing ... was too busy, though.... but did not pay after showing proof that they did not expect... hehe).... Have you ever seen her out of her office? The building is okay by west side baltimore standards (which are very low). Safety is not an issue most of the time, but once in a while you do wonder what a particular person is doing in the building at night.
Ms. Daisy is a sweetheart that deserves all the praise in the world. So hardworking, and sweet. Genuinely pleasant lady.
