Heres an honest assessment of Bonnie Ridge.

First the good: Close to I83 and 695, so if you work downtown it seems like the ideal location. For being an old complex the inside seemed to be kept up fairly. You can find a parking spot fairly close to your apartment.

Now the BAD: When we moved in the carpet was destroyed. They changed it the next week but only half of the apartment. So for the rest of our lease we have carpet that is two very different colors. It seems like you can only fit a pillowcase into the washing machine at one time due to the size of it. The dryer vents into the apartment so if you want to breath you need to go outside when drying clothes. The thermostat will not let you go above 72 degrees, and that is not very warm in those apartments in the winter. Since we have moved in the water has been cut off 4 or 5 times due to broken pipes underground. The propery manager is useless, and I mean that honestly. His manager, the regional manager, is even more useless and a complete jerk. He uses deragatory language towards you if you are a young professional.

Now the ugly: Ratio Utility Billing- They use it, and they did not let me know they did. It is a formula for how they calculate your heat usage, not by how much you actually use. If you are a young professional at work most of your days stay far far far away from this magical place.

This is my honest opinion, I hope you take my advise and never ever rent here.

I have found this complex very disapointing...I was never told either about this ratio billing and have been fighting with them about it..they insist that people are told...opening accounts in someone's name without their knowledge or consent is illegal...clearly I am not the only one......action needs to be taken!

The last place i lived at had the same thing with the utilities. When I signed my lease i was informed of the utility billing and was offered a budget bill. I think they would not risk being sued by do things illegally. Sounds like to me you just don't want to pay your bills. Do you do that with all your bills. Dispute them? I just don't see wahy people rent and then gripe. Why don't you buy a house. I sold my house because it is really so much cheaper and easier to rent. Mortgage $1300.00 ,electric $225.00,water,sewer,gas and heat $450.00 plus maintenance cost outrageous and taxes per year 2700.00 so add those up and then add your bills up. See how much your saving.

And as far as your ever-judgmental "You just don't want to pay your bills"... isn't it bad enough everyone has to adjust to the ever-rising BGE cost? Sure, I'll pay MY bills..not YOURS or anyone else's since this is based on averaging the entire community usage. Its unfair if I am only home a small portion of the day paying a cost that is averaged in with some who may be home all day, have 3 televisions running, etc. Use your brain.

fyi, every complex is going to offer something different in terms of billing. i'm surprised you didn't ask before you even applied. why would you apply anywhere without having a clear idea of what you're expected fees would be? the agents were very forthcoming with information about the ratio billing when i inquired about it.

I actually went to look at an apartment at Bonnie Ridge this weekend. Before we even went on the tour, the leasing agent went through each of the apartments that may work for me and listed their budget-billing utility price. She explained clearly that the alternative was ratio billing. Having lived in an old apartment in Charles Village for the past two years, it does not sound like that bad of a deal. But, my point is, I was definitely notified and I haven't even rented yet.
