Do NOT live here

Why I was attracted to Bonnie Ridge:
- close proximity to work
- safe, clean
- amenities (the gym is really nice)
- amount of living space I got for my money
- 5% discount on my rent because I'm a teacher.

Why I almost left Bonnie Ridge a week after signing the lease:
- they were tiling my bathroom and I was ensured that it would be done so as not to interfere with my using the space. I came home to find the sink in my bedroom, bits of tile and grout in my shower and a plank across the bathroom floor as well as a note telling me to stay off the tiles. Apparently, if I wanted to use my toilet, I was supposed to walk on this plank and position myself well enough to use the toilet and stay off the floor. I called and complained and wrote up a letter. To their credit, Bonnie Ridge refunded me the equivalent of one night's rent since I ended up leaving my apartment and going to my aunt's for the night. I regret not terminating my lease then because it has gotten even more ridiculous.

Why I absolutely hate Bonnie Ridge now:
- ratio utility billing. The leasing agent was not upfront with how this system works. I have rented before and never heard of such a system. My heating bill is not based on usage but on square footage! Yes folks, if you live by yourself but the 4 member family next door occupies the same square footage you do, you pay the same amount! And all this is perfectly legal in Maryland. There are no submeters at Bonnie Ridge so be prepared to pay $150 for your heating bill in December even if you are not there for 2 whole weeks!!!!! The lease you sign does not adequately explain this system so be warned.

- information is inconsistent. I got 4 different stories on how to go about terminating my lease early from leasing agent.

- manager is rude. I felt like I had no recourse with him and he constantly interrupted me.

- they do not shovel parking spaces during heavy snow storms. So get a snow blower or buy a four wheel drive. Otherwise, you will not be able to get out of your parking spot after they clear the road and pile the snow up in front of your car.

Final analysis: do NOT live here.

Ummm...just a thought but doesn't it take the same amount of energy to heat a given sized space regardless of how many people are living in it? In fact, if there are more people in that said space shouldn't it take less energy? You know, with body heat and all. Maybe the 4 member family next door should be upset that you are getting the better end of that deal. Added in response to aixprovence05: I concede your point about the heat for the water...in which case I'll retract my previous comment about you getting a better deal and call it a wash. The water I believe is based on the number of people in the apartment. Any way you slice it, it is an imperfect system but the only one you'll ever see considering that no company will put forth the amount of money it would take to submeter every apartment for both gas and water....at least not without raising your rent even more.

Ummmm...that heating bill was not just to heat the space, that's also to heat the water. Obviously one person takes fewer baths than a family of four, uses less dishes, washes less clothes. If I'm gone for 2 weeks at Christmas, I should be able to turn my heat off and not pay the same amount as if I were there using the utility. It should be based on usage not on square footage that's all I'm saying.

DUHUHH!!!! Do you work for Bonnie Ridge?? Your response kinda looks like you are from home properties!! hahahahah If you lower your heater or turn it off for 2 weeks while you are on vacation... then it turns up to a lower bill!!!! duhuhhhh!!!! We lived in Bonnie Ridge for 1 year only... right after the contract we decided to get a new place to stay. Management sucks.... billing sucks as well. They try to make the looks fool people with their new clubhouse... new paved roads.... yet they still suck!!! They are kinda racist to me.... so people beware of this place! 120% NOT RECOMENDED!!
