Same old song ... but trust me there is more ...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
We have lived in Canterbury Apartments for a litle over a year now and, believe me, we wish we had not renewed our lease recently. The place has certainly gone down hill! Since we have lived here there has been squirrels living in our air ducts. They climb in under the siding on the side of our building that has been hanging off for a year and get into the air system. Aside from being completely unhealthy, they are louder then you can imagine, and far louder than any of our nieghbors. When I notified the office of this they told me there is nothing they can do about it. They couldn't even patch up the siding to stop the little rodents from getting in. So that is complaint number one, but trust me, many more follow. Another complaint about the incompetent office staff is that they regularly (im talking once a month, at least) let maintenance turn the water in the building off without giving any of the residents notice. In fact, it is off today (right now actually), which is what inspired me to finally speak out about the terrible conditions here. And while they have the water off you would think they were fixing the broken washing machine, right' Wrong. One of only two machines has been broken, off and on, since we moved in, and despite repeated complaints from us and other neighbors, they have yet to fix it. The office is nothing but a pain and is one of those places I dread going to (the only staff member that does her job is Susan). This past July, when our new lease went into effect and rent went drastically up, they closed at least an hour early from the 1st to the 5th. This would have been fine except that my girlfriend and I have jobs that make it hard for us to get to the office even at the regular office hours. We repeatedly called during those days to find out what the new rent was and could not get a straight answer. Needless to say, when the 6th rolled around and we finally got ahold of someone with a few braincells left they told us we would have to pay a late fee, for what', for them closing early without letting people know 5 days in a row. A call to the home office in NY and a little help from Susan in the office straightened everything out, but it was yet another headache that my girlfriend and I did not need. In response to what a previous reviewer said, "you get what you pay for", they could not be farther from the truth. I don't know about you, but $1000 a month should pay for much more than this. My previous apartment was a little better quality and I only paid $750 for a two bedroom-two bath. In fact, just down the road you can pay another hundred a month and have much better quality of living. So in my opinion, you get far less than what you pay for. This list could go on and on but I have to drive to my friends house in Towson so that I can shower before I go to work (being that I have no water)(oh I guess thats not included in my $1000)! I'll close by saying, don't do it, there are far better places in this area at resonable prices!
