Stay AWAY from Centerpoint at all cost

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I hate this place. I am so glad my lease is finally over and I can move out. I have been renting at various places for 8 years now and Centerpoint's management is the worst management I have encountered - Both Bozutto and Avalon. Centerpoint has given me problems from day one. Firstly, I was mislead to think that heater and a/c in the tower was unlimited usage. I asked them repeatedly "Can I use my heater 24/7 and still get charged the same" and they said yes. I signed the lease and believed them - until I got the bill for the first month when my bill was in the hundreds. I approached the management and they told me "Oh, it was only the cool water/hot water that ran the heater and a/c that was free - power to run the applicance is not unlimited usage." Cool water!'''!' No reimbursement, no transfering of apartment to a smaller unit, nothing. Of course it was made to look like I was at fault.
A friend of mine had her apartment completely flooded because a huge main building pipe near her apartment broke. It flooded so bad water dripped into the unit below. All her clothes and furniture was ruined - I had to lend her clothes for work. Carpet completely soaked. What kind of water was in that pipe' Who knows what else started breeding in the soaked carpet that stayed wet for a week' I went to her apartment and it smelled mouldy. Centerpoint did not transfer her to a different apartment, did not give her new carpet, did not reimburse her for her loss, did not allow her to break her lease. All they did was to give her 2 big electric fans and told her to deal. What kind of management is this'!'
Parking is a nightmare. Centerpoint wants to make money during games and Hippodrome shows, and there are no reserved spaces for residents. Sometimes you have to park on the roof (7th floor) of your garage during snow storms even though you pay $150/month for parking.
This place is also a zoo. Every other resident has a dog. When it rains or snows there is wet dog smell in the elevators. I saw pee in the elevator once. Some people do not tie their dogs up so be prepared when a big dog pounces on you when the elevator door opens.
The day I moved out I cleaned and repainted my apartment from top to bottom, spending over 12 hours cleaning. I gave it back the condition I got it. All I got was a measly $91 back from my deposit. All the other reviews you read are true - all they want is to make $$$.
The location of the apartment building is bad. It is dangerous to step outside Centerpoint. My boyfriend was offered cocaine and pot by some guy selling drugs. The guy had his 4 year old son with him. I am often followed on my way home from the subway station and get sick cat calls all the time. There are crackheads roaming the street. I witnessed a gang breaking into the Foot Locker and running off with garbage bags filled with shoes. All this during bright daylight. I have many, many stories to tell. Total nightmare for 14 months.
