Sad to leave

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009

My roommate and I moved to Centerpoint from Marlboro Square (basically a two-block move) because we had issues with mice, homeless people in the stairwell, no parking spots available in our lot during baseball games (despite the $110/mo parking fee!), etc. We've been living at Centerpoint almost two years, but we have to move soon to be closer to work. We have had so few problems at Centerpoint compared to our previous residence! The building is relatively new, so there are no major maintenance issues, and while the appliances and other apartment features are not top-of-the-line, everything looked very clean and new when we moved in. Our neighbors are amazingly quiet, despite the fact that most of the residents are graduate students. It is very convenient to live next to Starbucks, Bank of America, Lucy's and Pickle's (bars), the Charles Station metro, light rail, I-95... Even though the light rail runs right next to the building, we hardly ever hear it because the windows block out much of the sound (but it may be that we are on one of the top floors); at Marlboro Square we could hear fire trucks ALL the time. Also, the electricity and heat/electric bills are not ridiculous like at MS because somehow the temperature inside our unit is almost always comfortable. Having a washer/dryer in the unit and a garage parking space are VERY convenient and unusual in this neighborhood I think. Yes, the neighborhood isn't the greatest, but being students we had to live here to be close to school, and the worst problems we ever had were people on the street asking for change (pretty minor). The worst thing I could say about the building is that because so many residents have dogs it can smell like urine sometimes near the parking garage. To me, this is not much of a problem. We have been very impressed by the management-- they do what they can to cater to the residence's needs, no matter how trivial. I really think Centerpoint was best choice for us in this neighborhood. The price has dropped also since we moved here so take advantage!
