Good *Everything gets fixed on time. When my fridge died, I had a new one in a few hours. (Though a few minor plumbing issues were never fixed entirely correctly, just adequately).
*The residence services staff is usually friendly and helpful. Tho' I try to use email rather than calling or going into the office.
*I am always able to get my packages and at night there is always someone at the door.
*The rent is moderate for the size of the aparment and the downtown location.
*I have a great western view over the city and have spectacular light and sunsets.
Bad *Very outdated, drafty windows. The heating and cooling systems can't keep up with the draft/leak. Space heaters in the winter are a must (which is very bad for a "luxury" apartment).
*Not enough wash facilities for the size of the building.
*The elevators are AWFUL. Very slow and often one or another is out of service. If the elevators break down on the weekend, they will not have them repaired until Monday morning as it is "too expensive" to have them serviced on the weekend. Imagine having 1 elevator for 30 floors with 8 units on each floor. A nightmare.
*Crappy pool hours, bad workout facilities.
*The remodeling of the lobbies and plaza are out of control and have been dragging on for well over a year. Things promised in that regard have definitely not happened and there is no communication.
*Leasing services suck. I had the same issues with getting my number into the entry system that others had and with the loading dock not being scheduled as promised as other people had. And of course everyone acted like I was being unreasonable when I couldn't use the elevator when scheduled (coming back the next day isn't really a solution). Like most sales-creatures, they'll say anything to get you to sign, but not follow through.
*Old infrastructure (hot water, heating) that is barely staying together.
Other issues *Most of the water problems (water going off) are the fault of Baltimore City and not Charles towers. Though many of the problems have to do with their faulty equipment in the basement.
*The parking garage is not owned by Charles Towers. The property was oddly portioned out when it was done in the 70's and someone else owns what is under Charles Towers. Until recently they didn't even own the plaza, but rented it from the city. So they have no control over the outrageous parking rates.
