I happen to work in the mainteance field and I have read a lot of these complaints and yes we have an old building. And how many other buildings are old in baltimore city 90%. One person wrote they did not know how to turn off the fire alarm. The fire department will not allow them to turn off the fire alarm until they deam it safe, so no they are simply not allowed to turn it off until the firemen say so no matter what the reason. They have to respond when it goes off and a lot of them don't live onsite so they have to stop what they are doing to go and wait and hear that annoying ring too. They don't make it go off so they can sit and count how many people come down. Its no fun for them either.
The floods well lets see we are in a high rise where will the water go if there is a leak. Up' No Down. When pipes break from age, weather, people hanging their clothes on them. They have to deal with every upset person and they cannot go home until all residents have been taken care of as best as possible for the night, which has been 2am I might add. I have no control over the price I pay it too. But I love the view and most of the residents are really cool. But you do get these stuck up booshy people that have no idea of what we really do. They get there everytime they have any concern and try to take care of all the problems and there are a lot because of the renovations and the age of the building. But without upgrading, the building would be much worse. They are trying to make it a better place to live but accidents happen and contrary to popular belief they are not the ones who start the fires that would be your friendly neighbors. They try to care enough to stay up til 2am trying to meet our needs. So no this is not a perfect place but show me where one is. They do care about every person who lives here even if they are a pain in the butt to deal with. They care how your apartment is and how your feeling and they care enough to give you a 24hr maintenance guarrantee that they will be there within 24hrs to repair anything thats wrong. And they do. they also have curtesy patrol that patrols all areas of the inside and outside so you can be safe. and they have a 24hr front desk for your convenience not theirs

Only one of the floods was caused by an actual fire, thanks very much. The rest were caused because the sprinkler system is crap.

Which the residents PAY for. It's not being out of the kindness of the management's heart. Geez. get real.

I happen to know there was 3 floods. I was also able to get the scoop on all of them because you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar darling. Out of the 3 floods, 2 were because of actual fires. The alarms might be another story though. I can tell you one thing, they arent crappy, theyre just annoying as hell. I asked the staff (nicely) why they go off so much, and they told me. Its understandable. Still annoying, but understandable. I wasnt coming down for a bit until those last two sprinklers though (with actual fires)...so Bette, you best to get your facts straight sweetie. All you gotta do honey is ask them nicely and maybe you can find out the correct answers too. : ) Just like me. Its that easy.

It's pretty pathetic when the staff use this forum to argue with tenants. A more reasonable approach might be to listen to the complaints and improve service. Bette davis' information is correct- we're not naive enough to believe otherwise. And the writer of this posting needs to be reminded that he is being paid to do a job and the tenants are the ones paying- so they owe you NOTHING. Get another job if you can. Just so you know, Dave Hillman isn't too happy with you, maybe you should be more considerate since you might need one of us to help you geta job.
