I was in 3001 from Nov of 2006 until Nov of 2007 and I must say that it had its ups and downs......
Goods...
-Cheap in comparison, utlities included
-Very nice lobby, workout center, pool is great, great location
-Grocery store is easy to get to
-Contrary to popular beleif, Candy is not the mean person a lot of people make her out to be...approach her with respect and she will treat you great, as will any of the staff
Bad....
-AC and heater's are weak and you will need fans/heaters if you are sensative to temperature. We were fine during the winter, but due to our polar bear like needs in the summer, we were disappointed
-Lot of construction.....it is downtown so you should expect that, not really the most quiet place to live.
-Lack of places open to eat on the weekend within walking distance, unless you don't mind walking to the harbor or Mt. Vernon.....it was getting better by the time I moved out though
Ugly (really bad)
-Parking flat out sucks.....good luck getting a spot under the complex, and if you have to park across the street it is nearly a 5 minute walk from door to car (in the South tower)....plus the attendents are out of control. I got in an argument with the night attendent one night and she had my car towed! The manager had to come and take me to my car the next morning and paid for the whole thing...needless to say she was terminated but that made for a very interesting Saturday.
-Elevators are terrible....period nuff said....they are trying to fix them, but its either hit or miss with them
Those are pretty much the major things of postive and negative value. Take it for what you want, but if you are looking for a realitivly cheap place in downtown (true downtown not Fed hill or Canton)....with utilites paid for, a close grocery store, and a nice combination of ammenities (pool, work out facilty, etc.) then you will like it......If you want anything other than that, its probably not for you....not becuase it is a bad complex but because it is the city and there are things outside of their contorol... Happy hunting

I came in late one night behind someone (even though i have the parking pass to raise the door)...and since the door was already open I just continued in. She came out yelling at me that the garage was closed, screaming, cussing, and I when I got out of the car to show her my parking pass she went back into the office, shut the door, locked it, and continued sceaming at me.....needless to say it was an interesting evening. The manager was great though, he took care of everything the very next morning

Wow - thanks for the info on that. I can't believe she got bent out of shape over that! I'll be staying clear of Charles Towers for various reasons.
