We moved in our Townhome in the fall of 2008 and we have had very minimal issues. We have definitely experienced some of the typical rentals issues. Ex. Cheap Carpet, nosey neighbors, nasty dumpsters, and a management staff that does not know how to communicate to each other, let alone their residents. However, outside of the typical rental issues . We love our townhouse. We ve never had issues with Bugs, roaches, rats, mice, etc. I have never heard my next door neighbor. I don t know how it is in an apartment but in our Townhouse, we haven t had any issues with water. We opted for an ungraded unit for only $40 more monthly; meaning new appliances, new countertops, new cabinets, recess lighting, and nice flooring (outside of the carpet) and we love it. Our townhouse has 3 bedrooms, 1 baths, a full laundry room (not just w/d combo in a closet), a decent size pantry, a balcony with a storage closet (nice size at that), and a large eat in kitchen. We love our bay window and there is lots of light. The downside of the townhouse: cold air from the outside, blows through the electric plugs, the windows and doors aren t very well insulated either. The ironic part about all of that is that I ve never had a BGE bill above $160. Other rentals (apartments) that I have lived in have produced BGE bills as high as $395 monthly. I can t deny the fact that the kids in the neighborhood are annoying and they don t listen. Yes, they do stand in the middle of the street, and yes the older ones roam the street all hours of the night. But I have never had anything done to my car. My fianc smokes and he is up all hours of the night and he hasn t had any issues either. The hardest thing to deal with are the people in the leasing office. If you can get past the lack of personality and the inability to communicate, you ll be just fine. Any of the maintenance men that we have spoken with are more then willing to assist you. All in all, you may want to check out the place for yourself. Talk to some of the residents for yourself. That s what we did. Drive through there at night. There is a security truck that drives around the community all night. What may not have worked for someone else, may be perfect for you. I m not saying that this property is perfect because by all means it s not but we haven t experienced all the issues that everyone else has.
