If you move here, you will be among a lot of Section 8 people (which is not bad per se, everybody needs housing and it is good that the government helps). The problem' Most of them are having a hard time making ends meet. They work hard at low paying jobs and often times they fall behind on their rent. Management knows that, therefore the quality of the service that they provide is extremely poor not just for them, but for everybody in the complex. Why have top quality services and facilities for people who will be evicted soon' Another problem is that the kids of these people are unsupervised. They are noisy and since they don't have the means to be enrolled in afterschool care, you will have them loittering around getting into trouble. Keep in mind, since the quality of the bulk of the tenants (low income people and students trying to live cheap) doesn't know how it is to live in a nicely run complex, the management standards for cleanliness are absolutely low. Since F@T is short of well-mannered tenants, you will have the police on the premises constantly (undercover police do live here and monitor the place since they are fighting drug dealers, a problem that has diminished but is still present).
BEWARE!! Once you sign the lease, they will not move a finger for you (unless you have a lawyer behind you, as I did). Do not believe the "Newly renovated" sign. It has been there for years and it only means that you will pay extra for clean carpet and functioning appliances. The buildings are old. In the time that I have lived here, the main water pipe has bursted several times and we have been without water more than once. Mice live inside the builing, in between the dry-walls (you can hear them scurring around). The dumpster is always full (they do have pick up service, but there are far more tenants than there are containers). The washers and driers cost $1.75 each per load and provide poor service (you will be going somewhere else to do your laundry if you want it clean). The walls are thin, you will hear EVERYTHING your neighbor does, and since most of the tenants do lack community manners, get ready to listen to their favorite music as loud as their speakers can play. The "storage" units that they have are a breed site for mice. The carpet of the common hall to all building is seldom cleaned, therefore a particular smell surrounds every building. The "gym" is not sufficient and once again, since people of this type tend not to take care of community property, you will find that more often than not the 4 tread mill machines are not working properly (they have one multipurpose bow-flex type machine and a cycle maching in addition to the mills). The "computer center" is a joke. Maintenance won't come when they are needed. As matter of fact, once one of them refused to come to service my heat system in the middle of Winter (the Super Bowl was that day and he was preparing for it). On other occasion, I had to have the cleaning crew come three times to clean the stove that had grim all over. Their solution for the mice' They give you mouse traps! There is mold. The pipes hiss. The bathrooms "sweat" a brownish substance. Even if you are the cleanest of people, you will find that if you do not wipe those walls after every shower, the brownish gook appears. The windows are thin, so you will run your energy bill like crazy. Pets are allowed, but as I said, the majority of the people here do not have the time, education, manners, experience or background to live in community. Do expect to hear a lot of noise, find dog waste on the yards (along with unsightly trash --people put their run down furniture in their balconies, just as if they lived in a slum).
Why am I still here' Because they have a good team of liars and an iron-clad contract. I would have left after the first week but I was locked for good. What did I do' I hired a lawyer. Now my apartment is clean in the inside, but the neighbors... well, you can't change that. THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU SIGN THE LEASE! Demand to see your unit BEFORE you sign (they will tell you that they cannot release the keys until you sign, so ask for them to open it for you and go with you to inspect it so you can see it as they plan to release it to you, because once you sign, all smiles are gone!).

I am a little worried after reading all of these review now. I am suppose to move in about a week (Thank goodness I refuse to sign my lease before seeing my apartment). Any suggestions? Or should I reconsider?
