I lived in the same unit at the Fairways for 2 years, and my friends lived in units there as well. I will list what we encountered while living there:

1. MAGGOTS on the outside glass door that opens up to my particular building. They were crawling all over the door. Perhaps someone took their trash out and they got smeared on the door' Nonetheless, there they were.

2. When they were refacing the exterior of the buildings in 2003ish, I awoke to the workmen peering into my window as I slept in my bed because they were refacing near my window.

3. MICE everywhere. And no, management rarely does anything about it...

4. Broken toilets, showers, faucets, you name it, It takes about 3 days for maintenance to actually come.

5. The "storage units" in the bottom of the buildings actually look like dog kennels- and they are by NO MEANS clean. If you were to store your stuff there, you are ASKING for mice/roaches.

6. ROACHES.

7. A staff that didn't know anything about anything. Often rent checks were "lost."

To be fair, I lived there between 2002-2004, so perhaps some things have improved. After looking for apartments recently, and stumbling over this site, I felt compelled to share my experiences so everyone was aware of what the "Fairways" (formally known as Glenmont) was all about.

Proceed with CAUTION.

True. Mice live in the structure of the building. The exterminator, who comes every Friday, is useless since he only places traps but does absolutely nothing to find how the mice get in. You have to chase management to get things done. It is good to have a lawyer like someone suggested in this list. Tons of garbage in the dumpsters. Also, you will never now if your neighbor is having a yard sale or if he is being evicted. 'Cause you'll get home and all of the belongings will be spread in the yard (and has to remain like so for 48 hrs!--same thing with the mail). Even if you try to "lift" the place by being a good neighbor, it is very hard.
