Honest Review

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
The vast majority of the reviews I read during my apartment search seemed to be either written by disgruntled former tenets or management companies looking to boost their ratings. I thought I’d write an honest review based on my 6 months here in Fox Glen to help anyone reading these reviews. I live in Fox Glen II which is a smaller section of the apartments about a mile away from the rental office.
Parking/Landscape:
Parking lot is well lit but sometimes spaces are very limited at night. Garbage disposal is one large dumpster about a 200 yd walk away, which isn’t good at night or in bad weather. It’s also not unusual to see rats running from the area as you get closer. Also ice/snow removal seems to be hit or miss so far this winter. The windows in back are great for cross ventilation but it’s a complete mud pit behind the buildings so I keep the blinds closed.
Lobby:
Locked lobbies for each building. They’re a bit outdated but always clean and well lit.
The lobbies make it tough to receive packages but I’m willing to trade that off for safety.
As a side note the 21215 post office has horrible customer service and it’s the first one I’ve been to were everyone is behind bullet proof glass. Also the lobby layout make it tough for moving furniture in and out.
Apartment:
My biggest complaint about Fox Glen is the NOISE. Depending on who your neighbors are
will define this problem. Expect to hear anything from phone conversations to "squeaking beds" as though you were in a college dorm. Fox Glen is also pet friendly so if you live near a dog (puppy) owner expect to hear lots of barking . I also think my neighbors are heavy smokers which I smell often.
Crime:
Crime so far has been relatively quiet compared to other parts of the city but I wouldn’t leave anything of value in my car. There were a rash of assaults on Jewish teenagers closer to Reisterstown Rd. In the fall but I haven’t heard much since then.
Maintenance/office:
Very nice people and fix any problems I’ve seen within a day or two. Something to keep in mind is that mgmt is now making tenets pay the water utility based on a weighted share per tenet in each building. So if you have a neighbor that uses the dishwasher/laundry a lot you'll be paying more than your share.
Overall
Fox Glen II is a nice place to live temporarily. It’s affordable and relatively safe, but noise is the biggest issue. I think after my lease is up I’ll look for somewhere else to live but for now it fits my needs and my budget.
