This would be one community that I would not recommend someone to move to. Before I applied for the home I saw the model home first, the units look nothing like the model home. The model home is updated, but the units aren't. You would have to alot of painting and replacements to make the home look nice. When you move in, instead of the property manager making sure everything is fixed in the units, they give you a check list to check off what needs to be done. I had alot of things fixed and replaced in my unit. Maintenace takes for ever to come and fix things, so you have to put in a request at least three or four times. I have been asking for new and updated kitchen cabinets since I moved in, which was in October 2008. The property manager keeps saying she will come to my home with the maintenace supervisor to examine them, but she still has not showed up. The laundry room is always dark. I don't feel safe going in there, so I take my laundry else where. There's an excessive amount of teenagers around the complex, so you have your young thugs selling drugs in the community. Across the street, there is Northbend Elementary School and Rockland Middle School. Both are bad schools. The teachers and administrators don't take teaching very seriously. They look at it as a job and not a career, so they don't care if the students pass or not.

I live in Jamestowne now and agree with everything you've said, especially the need for upgrading the units they are NOTHING like the model and seriously need a makeover. The only thing I have not witnessed is drug activity. Many homes have teens so having them hanging around is inevitable. Unfortunately they dont have any outlets in Baltimore to keep them involved in positive activities so they have no choice but to hang out but I do hope there isn't drug dealings going on. I hate this place but lack the funds to move at this time. Unless you don't care about your living space much and like the 'ghetto' life I would not recommend Jamestowne.

I was considering Jamestowne. Key word CONSIDERING! I really jus wanna comment about the school thing. I know West Baltimore Middle has had there problems. I have had one child to leave from there on the honor and go on to Baltimore School For the Arts. I had 2 children currently at North Bend. How dare u say that the teachers don't care about whether the children pass or fail. Hve u spoken with all of the teachers. Take teachin seriously wow! There may have been a issue here and there but 4 the most part North Bed is an AWESOME School. My daughter just left 5th highest acheive in the 5th grade class, principal roll all year, perfect attendance all year, @nd place in science fair against 5,6,7, and 8 graders, 1st place in dramatic reading contest against elementary students, and 2nd place against middle and she has been there since 1st grade. I have no idea about living conditions at Jamestowne, but unless u have done some sort of a survey of the schools on't do that. Thank u and have a blessed day!
