I enjoyed it!

I was a graduate student at Hopkins and thought the Jefferson House was a good deal. It had cheap rent, no noise, great location, and the office staff were always nice. I never remember seeing any homeless people in the building! Not good though if you have a car.. because it's hard to find street parking. The building was safe! but Baltimore overall is not safe. Even around Hopkins campus.
The elevator did breakdown but only on a few times. The lead pait thing is true but it's in the contract and as long as you don't eat it, I think you should be fine.
Rent in 2003 was $480 (I think) for the studio and it went up to $505 in 2004.
Although the office staff were nice, the company that owned the building (The Times Group) was evil! Rent was due on the 1st, but if they don't have it by 4:30PM on the 4th, then the next day they file a complaint in court. One time they had my check on the 4th but still went ageah with the court papers. It sucked. And then you have to pay 30% fee plus the court fee.
Overall, I recommend the Jefferson House.
