I lived in the Jefferson House apartments for a few years. When I lived on the 5th floor it was actually all right. I lived in a corner apt. It was small, kitchen was miniature, but I liked all the windows and having a view. But when I first moved in and I lived in apartment 108 it was a nightmare. They should've paid me to live there. The pipes below the apartment banged all winter long (very Loudly). I had to sleep in the living room to get any type of sleep at all. Just outside the bedroom and bathroom windows you could hear the people at the bus stop quite clearly and some of the things they had to say were really rather creepy. It was bad enough just to endure the noise and the fumes of the bus stop being that close. The students from Hopkins and from wherever else could be heard quite clearly late at night walking by singing and yelling. One guy in an apartment just above me barfed every morning around 7:30. Then of course there's the guy down the hall who talks loud enough on the phone with his door open so everyone can hear him. I'm sure he still lives there. The only oddity of living on the 5th floor was the aged Queen Bee of the building. I had always assumed her apartment was all decorated in black, but then it totally freaked me out when I moved up to the 5th floor and figured out that it really was. The only time the elevators broke down was the week I moved out. The management made the maintenance guys help me move my stuff down the steps, all 5 flights. One of them was really not thrilled to help and just kind of tossed my things around. The other guys were really kind and helpful. I'm so happy to be out of that building. I just kind of ran into this website and these memories just came flooding back.
