My best friend and I (both age 20) started looking for an apartment. We both grew up in this general area, so we wanted to stay around here. Everywhere that we looked was sketchy, unsafe, too expensive, or nasty. We were hesitant about looking at Kenilworth. When we walked into the office for the first time, we were greeted with the NICEST people. They answered all of our questions, went over every part of the lease and were genuinely excited about us moving in.
Security deposit was $500 for both of us ($250 each), plus $250 because we have a cat. This was soo reasonable compared to the apts in parkville, towson, carney, cockeysville, rosedale, essex etc etc.
Our neighbors next to us are so sweet and look out for us (we ARE 2 young females). There are families upstairs, and an elderly lady and a young man downstairs. Yes, the music can sometimes be annoying, and yes, you can hear what people are doing at times. But they are understanding when we want to have people over, or when we're loud and obnoxious.
The first month we lived there, our rent check got lost in the mail. There was no court summons, no eviction notice. They simply called to see if everything was ok. They asked that we write them another check. Problem solved.
As far as the maintence goes, we've only had 2 problems: the bathtub faucet was dripping, and the screen for the slider came out of it's track. Both times we called and someone was there THAT day to fix the problem. As for the crazy talk of staff members "breaking in" with their master keys and eating tenant's food... I've never heard anything of it. And we have the gossip queen in our building. :)
The water bill is shared between the apartment building, but our share is around $10 - $14 a month. It's nothing!
The parking can sometimes be tricky, but there's always the street. Which I feel completely safe walking down, even late at night. There's a pool, which is awesome now that it's summer time.
Overall, I think it's an awesome place. It could be that I'm young and don't know any better, but every person that's ever walked into my apartment has been impressed with it.
