You're probab;y renting because you can't get or can't afford a house. So be realistic...
Ok...I have read the reviews and they are just rants...not reviews. Yes, maintence is slowish, but it's better than having to do the repairs yourself and pay for them. The lights on the building do sometimes burn out...but it doesn't leave the parking lot pitch black. Just be more alert.
Rent is NOT that high. I moved here in the middle of 2002 and my rent has only increased by $40(total, not per year) in the past 4 years! I previously live at The Colony in Towson and in one year the rent went up $83!
I have never had roaches, mice, parking issues, or break-ins. I also lock my doors, clean up after my self, don't leave open food lying around and am aware of my surroundings. Afterall...just because it's Baltimore County, doesn't mean there's no crime.
We did have a big electricity problem but after getting the run around with the rental office, I simply wrote a letter to Continental Reality and what do ya know...instant progress. They came out, appoligized for the inconvience and did everything to help me get the problem figured out and fixed.
As for the people complaining about the landscaping...get over it. If it were your yard and you had all the cash in the world, sure you'd do it better, but I think they are pretty darn good. The grass is cut frequently, they trim the weeds around the building and they remulch the trees and bushes a few times a year. The grounds crew is here about every 3 days doing something.
The security deposit is dependant on your credit...if your credit sucks its going to be high cause you're a risk. Its like that anywhere you go.
If you can't see the appartment until a certain date...don't set your move in date until after its available for viewing...thats a no brainer. All I had to do was make a phone call and they moved my 'rent start' date back a wekk so I could see my place and do the walk through first.
This place isn't the best, but it's not the most expensive either. The best thing is the size of the rooms. I am having trouble finding a single family HOUSE with rooms as big as these. You can usually pick what part of the complex you want to live in so pick wisely. Look for good parking and a well lit area. If your worried about crime, don't live on the ground floor. If you're BGE bill is too high, turn the AC back when your not home. Common sense people, thats all you need to see that this place is pretty good for the location and price. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC

I don't know who you know in the leasing office but I've been living here for 3 1/2 years and my rent has gone on average of $40 per year to be specific, I'm actually paying nearly $200 more from when I first move here, the only reason I'm still here is because of the convenience to work. And yes maintenance does come when they want, there has hardly ever been a time when I didn't have to call three or more times for the same issue. There are mice here in record numbers so bad that I had to get a cat so now they are gone and I certainly didn't have them because my apartment is not clean. Your suggestion for not being able to see you apt before you move in to change your move in date my not be a solution for most people.

You know you really seem to have chip on your shoulder with comments from other tenants. One would easily suspect you have connections to someone. The facts are the facts at KPP and we are entitled to voice them. Get a life! Renting an apartment isn't physics but it takes some knowledge and it's usually a learning lesson.

Peace and Good Will....

You obviously don't care to get much for your money. The lot can get very dark and regardless of one's alertness, the criminal element sees opportunity in darkened conditions. I lived there 5 years and my rent went up, but the quality of the service and property declined. You can find a place that is worth the money you pay for it (I live in such a place now), but kenilworth is not it.

And the problems with the expensive BG&E, is due to the fact of all the gaps in the old sliders and improperly installed windows. Not to mention the poor insulation. And yes, like the person above stated, u must have your connections. And maybe a little extra moola in your pocket, for submitting that comment. There r roaches, and mice but those are not the only little visitors u will have. They also have a MAJOR termite and ant problem in the summertime. Misquitos r horrible due to the poor drainage. Along those lines come the wasps and hornets. Which ones preferr the minitures ponds in the common area?, well i am not sure. But they both sting! Not a big fan of that. It doesn't matter how much you clean up after yourself. The univited guests still invade your home and outside relaxation areas. Really sucks!

This guy has ridiculously low standards. I am a current resident there and just in two years, I've noticed a large decline in just about everything. Though the maintenance guys are friendly, they take any shortcut they can. The neighbors are basically the people that O'Malley kicked out of the city (you do the math) or a bunch of inconsiderate college kids. If you love hearing whatever rap song is popular this week, then you'll enjoy 90% of your neighbors. My friend's car was broken into and things were stolen. The "if you're worried about crime, don't live on the bottom floor" comment this guy made is ridiculous. I don't want crime to be on the floor below me either, that's not going to make my wife and I feel safe. Kenilworth sucks, that's the bottom line.
