I have lived here for about 9 months now, and can't wait to hand in my two months notice. In the beginning everything seemed great, and I really liked my apartment. But it didn't take long for me to change my mind. The building I am in is like the pound, you hear animals all day and night, not to mention lazy teneants who don't take them out, so they use their apartments and the hallway as their bathroom area, and when they do take them out they don't pick up after them. The rent is way to high for living in a urinal. Secondly, every other review I have read says they can't feel the heat, well I have had my windows open all winter because it is like 500 degrees. My biggest problem now is that my apartment smells like a bar, because my surrounding neighbors chain smoke. I am a non smoker, and because management says they can't discriminate because they smoke I am supposed to be inconvenienced by the second hand smoke and all of my belongings are ruined because they reek of smoke. Also, when I take the trash out I am faced with "Templeton" the rat staring me down. Thankfully I haven't experienced the mouse or roach problem like other reviewers. I have written several nasty letters complaing about all of these things and nothing ever gets resolved. I bet management would change their tune when I tell them that the next step is for me to contact the Health Department and place my rent money in collections instead of giving it to them every month. The heat that should be "paid for", was recently changed by increasing rent for a "gas surcharge", but from the sounds of others reviews, they seem to do that every year. I am embarrassed to have anybody over my place because of the prehistoric size piles of dog crap in front of the building, the urine smell in the hallway, and the smoggy smoke stench in my apartment. The new windows are nice, and so is the renovated kitchen, but they need to renovate the way they deal with problems and take some lessons from similarly priced decent apartment complexes. If you go and look at the model and listen to how all the staff live there and love it, just remeber that it is part of their jobs to make it sound like a piece of heaven on earth, when really it is more like purgatory or hell.

i completely and totally agree. I recently moved out of the loch raven village apartsments. I experienced the same things and worse. the dog crap everywhere. the filthy entrance ways. the rodent problem was so bad that my children and I were afraid to get up and walk around in the middle of the night. I have a child with severe allergies and the mold in this place was killing her. loud parties and noise every friggin night. being afraid to walk from the parking lot to my apartment because there is drug dealing going on. The laundry rooms, no one in there right mind would use. my bathroom sink fell off the wall and it sat on the bathroom floor for a week. I left that apartment for piece of mind and the safety of my family. I left because that complex was a piece of crap. then I was told that I had to pay for sixty days because I didn't give them thirty days notice. Then they tried to behave as if they were doing me a favor by saying that they were only going to charge me for thirty days. they were going to charge me for the month of february when I moved out on feb. 1. then they told me that they were only going to charge me for 16 days. I had to pay them over three hundred dollars for an apartment that I wasn't living in that I left for the well being of myself and my family. I told them to take the money out of my security deposit. but they said they needed the money by the first of the month or I would have to pay a late fee. these people are scum and their apartment complex is a piece of crap. They keep increasing the rent, but they don't do anything to make the living conditions better. yeah, you would be better off living in a sewer than the loch raven village apartments
