Nice place, not as bad as people say

What drew me to LRV was the location..you can't beat it! I have been living in Loch aven several months now and I love it. The rooms are big and I walk EVERYWHERE although I have a car. True the neighborhood isn't so great anymore ( I grew up in the rowhouses in the 80s) and I wouldn't be caught dead walking the streets after dark, but it has a "homy" feeling. I have read many other reviews and I just laugh that people are outraged b/c you have to pay an extra 25 or 30 dollar surcharge for gas and heat. I was so excited to know I won't have to pay for gas and heat!!! That was almost 300 at my last apartment.Gas is expensive you know! LRV pays a lot for it, for us, I'm sure. As for not feeling the heat...I felt it okay ( although we've had a pretty mild winter so far) Many people say this is falling apart and that is falling apart. When I moved here I was told these apartments were over 50 yrs old, so EXPECT it. They make their money b/c the area is convient and the apartments are big--NOT b/c they are newer. If you need a g/d, beautiful hardwood floors and 10,000 amenities, pay 970 a month for a 2 bedroom somewhere else...It's cheap here ( I pay about 740 for a 2 bedroom.)
