Where do I begin' I stayed in Northwood for one semester and that was the worst 3 months of my life. When I first moved in I thought, okay,it's old but maybe it wont be that bad if I keep it clean. I was badly mistaken. The first 2 days were fine but day 3 brought on the roaches. Not only were they huge, but they were fast and agressive. You could actually hear their footsteps against the hardwood flooring. Roach sprays and bug killers did absolutely nothing. You could spray a whole can and they would just keep it moving .We finally caught up with one and killed it and when we went to flush it down the toilet found that the toilet only flushed on Thursdays. And dont think about taking a shower longer than 2 minutes because there would be puddles around your ankles. Fall came and along with it came the mice. Dont think about eating doritos because they would just walk in the room (right through the door) and look at you like "can I get some'". If you scream they just look at you like your crazy. Silly me thinking that if I scream it will run away. I ran out of breath quite a few times. Whoever said that mice are more afraid of you than you are of them has never been in Northwood. Once we learned to live by the mice's rules (dont come in the kitchen at night, dont drop any food etc.), here come the stalkers. I was sitting on my bed one day , watching tv and minding my business. I got up to get something to drink to find a man's face pressed up against my window screen! And this was on the top floor! This fool climbed the tree outside of the window and was just chilling...watching tv with me. My roomate and I bumped into the so-called "security" that walks around at night (not the Morgan cops that only give parking tickets, but the rent-a-cops that walk around Northwood) and told him about it. Next thing you know he's leaving notes on my car talking about "I want to take you out". My last month there may have been the worst considering the fact that we had to sleep with the oven open because the heat didn't work. What really makes me mad is that my financial aid covered this as housing and I'm still paying on a student loan that was used for me to live with roaches, mice, and no heat in the winter. Morgan and Northwood Apartments need to get it together. I can't believe that they have actual tenants who pay rent to live there. I wouldn't recommend moving to Northwood to anyone. You would be better of living in a garbage dump. At least there the roaches, mice, and dirt are free.

Wow. I lived there from 97-99; it's sad to see that nothing has changed. My first year, I saw one mouse and freaked out, but I only saw it once. The next two years became progressively unbearable. I dealt with it bcz I was on scholarship and couldn't afford to pay for my own housing. The huge attack roaches (so big you could see their mouths move :-P), the gangsta mice, who would hold their initiations at night in the kitchen and living room, whether you were there or not, the feral cats, who obviously had nothing to do but have kittens. Oh, don't let me forget the bubbled up floors, that looked like an alien had implanted a pod under the boards and it was nearing maturity. I kept waiting for Predator to hop out of the floor and dash me to pieces. If you're an '80's baby, think "V". The robberies, the shootings, the drugs, the mold, the ceiling caving in... Thank God that I got my degree and can now afford to live decently.
