The main drawback is that the apartments are not well soundproofed. The stairwells are very echo-y, and even with carpets, you will be able to hear all your neighbors' comings and goings, TV, music, phone conversations, and more that you really don't want to hear. On the positive side, these are nice apartments with a bit of character compared to newer places (not tons, though), and there are lots of trees in the neighborhood. The neighborhood, with all its single family townhomes and quiet sidestreets, is what makes these apartments attractive. The apartments themselves are basic, but a good value for the money. No frills such as balconies, cable, covered parking, laundry in every building, walk-in closets, garbage disposal, double sink, etc, which I guess is why they're so affordable.

The only reason I would not recommend these apartments is due to the abnormally light soundproofing between floors. It is like you are in different floors of a house, rather than in separate apartments.
