1. Terrible soundproof: you can literally hear ANYTHING from your neighbor (walking, talking, snoring...)
2. Mice: that's why people in these apartments like to have cats.
3. Maintenance and security deposit: maintenance is very slow and their quality is poor. when you are moving out, watchout for your security deposit. They charged me for replacing a vanity, which was very old and kinda rotten when I moved in.
If you decided to move in one, make sure you every furniture is renovated because they will send you a bill to pay for the renovation.

There are very clear laws in Maryland about what landlords can and cannot charge for when tenants vacate and very specific penalties for landlords who break the law. In general, you cannot be charged for normal wear and tear. However, you have to know your rights to get what you're entitled to.
