I like it --I would not have stuck around for such a long time. Here are a few tips on being happy there:
- get an upstairs apartment. It's much quieter than living downstairs (I've lived upstairs and downstairs). But if you're living upstairs, be considerate of your downstairs neighbor: don't walk around in noisy high heels, don't vacuum or make loud noises late at night. Just common courtesy stuff.
- if you have a problem, call the office and have a civil discussion with them. In all the years I've been there, I've never had any major problems with any of the management not doing stuff for me. I've complained about mice, they've sent exterminators. They've promptly done all emergency maintenance. The office and maintenance staff have always been helpful and friendly.
The first management, Wallace Campbell & Co. did an outstanding job. Most of us who lived there were long-term residents; we had a lot of elderly residents and young families. It was a really nice peaceful stable community. When they sold the property to Triton in late 2005, everything went downhill. The office staff did their best under difficult circumstances, but their bosses at Triton were not particularly helpful. The new management, wp & m is still fairly new, but from what I've seen so far, they're making a good effort to rebuild the stable community that Triton destroyed.
No apartment complex is perfect, but some of the negative comments below are way too harsh. Maybe it's all in the attitude; if you treat them with respect, you'll be treated with respect.
In all, I love the complex and the neighborhood. I'd recommend people live there if they're willing to be considerate towards their neighbors.

I loved my experience at Rodgers Forge apts but I moved out in 2005 when Triton took over. I was specifically told that my unit was slated for renovation within the year (conversion to condo) so I couldn't renew for 12 months anyway. I would've bought the place if I could've afforded it at the time. Every apartment I've rented since then has had nicer amenities, been larger in size and closer to downtown but I still would trade all of that for Rodgers Forge. You just can't find that kind of neighborhood for rental communities. The lack of soundproofing actually forces you to be friendly with your neighbors. I never used to hang out with my neighbors before but I had dinners with my RF neighbors, walked through the neighborhood with them, etc.

I moved out in 2006 after living there for 11 years. I do recall that the management company that came after Wallace Campbell, when the condos were first going to happen, was pretty incompetent. The light bulbs in the stairwells would burn out and not be replaced for months, even if you called. However, I agree that the neighborhood was great. Don't miss my tiny apartment much, but I do miss the neighborhood.
