Painted Walls and Ignorant Neighbors Aren't A Good Match!!!

I lived in The Metropolitan prior to the renovations. I loved it!! Absolutely adored it. I have city living without being in the city and furthermore, once you turn into the parking lot, it's like being a private community. Once the gate was added, I really felt as though I lived in an exclusive community. I won't say there weren't issues, prior to the renovations - but the community was wonderful. Most of the folks were elderly and young professionals. I stayed through the renovations and now at times, wish I had jumped ship with the others!!!! The class of people has gone down drastically. I have had to endure loud neighbors, having parties and leaving alcohol bottles in the hallway. I have also had to endure thin walls. I have now grown to know my neighbors in a very PERSONAL WAY, more than I wanted to know them. The walls were NEVER this thin - maybe it's due to the poor quality of the renovations. I NEVER heard a neighbor - I NEVER complained about a neighbor nor was I prompted to call the police regarding noise and ignorance. I really like the complex, the manager is very helpful and attentive. The maintenance staff is second to none. My issues are always addressed promptly. I am just appalled at the class of people they have moved in just to fill vacancies and make money. As beautiful as the complex is and as much as I love to entertain, I am apprehensive about inviting over. I am not sure what my neighbors will be doing and I am sure my guests don't want to hear the rap music that blares through my neighbors apartment door nor do they want to hear or see my other neighbors on their balcony yelling down at their friends. The other day I came out to see the friendly building heroin addict nodding off in the parking lot. He's a frequent guest of someone in my building. This is not what I bargained for. I don't mind the rent increases because I like the community and the staff has treated me well, but the neighbors need to go. In the past year I have seen 3 folks evicted. This is absolute nonsense. I talked someone else into moving here and they are as disappointed as I am regarding the community's residents. If the staff of the complex is reading this get rid of the ignorant folks out and bring in the more business class of people. What good are all the upgrades if the folks you bring in could care less'''' Just because a person can meet the income requirement doesn't mean they are the class of folks you want. I've seen some of the prospectives when they stop by the Leasing Ctr - I almost want to tell them they are not wanted!!! Please look at the folks carefully - you can tell they are not the kind we want here. use good discretion.

While I understand your complaints ... I don't think there is a whole lot Management can do, legally,as far as who they let in. It is legal to have an income requirement. Beyond that, they can't really discriminate based on what the people look like when they walk in the door. You might be better off asking them to add stipulations to the lease about noise and such, or enforce such rules if they are already there.

Although I understand your pain being from a development not too far up the street from this development and having similar problems. You can never judge a book by its cover. I've been in the company of executives as well as in company of a barely making it student and cleaning habits and behaviors range amongst the individual not their appearance. Some people are just more thoughtful and considerate more than others. Like the last response, either you need to move or talk to management about their policies.
