toxic management, toxic apartments.

Management is horrible. Someone wrote they were "proactive" -- this is code for "law firm on retainer is quick to subpoena tennants." One example: they raised the rent $40 or so. I paid the old amount. Two weeks later (the first I hear anything about it) I come home to a subpoena taped to my door. Mix up, right' $40 difference on a $1000 payment, on time. Ok. I go down to pay the difference with a check, or cash, or whatever. Nope. Can't do it. I need a cashier's check, and I need to pay a late fee. This is proactive.
Ok, pay your rent on time, avoid management, no problem, right' Until, that is, they assault the apartment with toxic vapors from cleaning products, paint fumes, and varnish, which they do every time an apartment is vacant. Count on this about 4 or 5 times a year. The building is old, fumes go through walls, floors, fixtures, etc. Wouldn't be such a problem, if they would "proactively" open windows and put fans in the painted apartments, but I've never seen a fan in the building, and I've complained to every single office manager they sent us -- by my count, there have been 5 in the past 18 months. If you luck out and get a good one, don't worry, they'll be gone by the time your next issue comes up.
Nice apartments, good location. Expensive, not woth the hassle. If you have a car, go somewhere farther away from campus. You can get a parking permit if it's more than a mile away. I would never live here again.
