Leasing office debacle

As someone who was interested in living at White Springs and was quickly turned off by the idea, I have a few things to say about the leasing office and the agents who work there. My boyfriend and I applied for a townhome to rent. There are no models for show and typically no unrented homes, so be aware that you will get what you get.
I have never been so frustrated and fed up with a leasing office in my life before. The person who took our application in the leasing office did not begin processing it until 1 week later. This of course, was after she said it would take 3 to 5 days find out whether we got the place or not. I called to follow up 1 week and 2 days after we applied, and she hadn't even asked us for neccessary information like our work fax numbers. The next time I called, which was a few days later, the same agent no longer even worked there. Consequently, our application was handled by several different people, none of whom kept good notes in our file. Not one of these people had the courtesy to make follow-up phone calls. I had to take time out of many days over a 3-week period to make sure that these leasing agents were doing their jobs.
The office also has "floaters," which are people who work for several different offices with the same management company. It was no surprise that when I spoke with a floater, she had no idea what the status of our application was and couldn't even find records of some of the paperwork we had already gotten processed. No one in the office that we dealt with was sensitive to the fact that our other leases were ending and we were under time constraints to find a place to live.
Now, several times during this 3-week period, I was at the height of frustration. I called to speak to the manager on three separate occassion. These phone calls were made during normal business hours. Every single time, I was told that the manager was not in. When I inquired as to when a good time to call would be, no one knew her hours or when she would be in the office. I'm surprised they even knew her name.
If you are wondering if something was wrong with us, as applicants, we both have steady jobs, perfect credit, and no criminal background, and we have a perfect tenant history at other apartment complexes. My only conclusion from this experience is that if this is how the leasing office treats people who WANT to live there, they can't be treating the people who ALREADY live there all to well. While the clubhouse and fitness center are nice, I have nothing positive to take away from the 3 weeks it took get my application processed.
We found a much nicer community to live in. The agent took only 5 days to process and approve our application, and the townhomes are much more aesthetically pleasing. The community is quieter and safer, and the whole package is much more appealing than White Springs. If you are looking for a place to live and want to feel as though the people from whom you rent care about you and want to make you feel at home, White Springs is not the place for you. Keep looking!
