Worst Mistake EVER!

Initially, I thought we found a gem of a place to live - affordable in Bel Air' Unheard of! To begin, like some of the others, I found my apartment to be decent - with promises of new upgraded appliances in my apartment, as well as being on the 3rd floor with cathedral ceilings was spacious. My complaints begin immediately upon move in - The said upgraded appliances were not in place as of my move in date. These "upgrades" including new flooring in kitchen/bath were not done & I offered to postpone my move in date to allow for easier installation. Also, the carpet was put in poorly, with random pieces thrown in the closets, the flooring in the kitchen coming up/falling apart, and most of the outlets painted over. The bathroom door was also stratched beyond belief (previous tenant's dog'). Within a few days, crews arrived to install the remaining appliances & ceramic tile in the bathroom, as well as the new cabinets & countertops in the kitchen. I was told by the horrific management that this was something that could be handled while I was at home, and would be a one day job, but I could tell the crew was suprised to see someone there. They said they didn't typically install in apartments with someone there, so I took my then 3 month old to my parents for the day. When I arrived home that evening (9pm), the tiles were in place in the bathroom with no grouting yet, there was no kitchen sink or countertop, nor was there ANY running water as it had been turned off for installation - not a problem for an un-occupied apartment - but a huge problem for someone with a 3 month old & a need for running water. Management was quick to place the blame on the crews. The job was completed the next day & my rent WAS reduced for the 2 days that I couldn't be there, however, it wasn't long before my next issue came up. For the first 6 months of my nightmare there, I did not have cable. Comcast came out a few days after I moved in to hook up my cable and found my line to be dead. The only way to have this replaced was to get permission from management to replace the line - Comcast was hard to deal with but I have a suspicion the office @ CW was less than helpful. Fast forward to summer. I returned back from a weeks vacation in August to find my A/C was not working. A call was put into maintenance immediately, as I am on the 3rd floor with an infant, and my digital thermostat was reading 101 with fans blowing which is unacceptable. 3 DAYS later after many phone calls with no response I was told that unfortunately they are short staffed and have no one to fix it. It took one week & multiple phone calls and letters to district and regional managers to resolve the issue - and with no apology, of course. Slowly, more minor issues came up and instead of dealing with the hassle of calling the office, I ignored them. As noted in the other reviews, parking is horrible, snow removal is NON-existent (I fell twice - while making every attempt not to). Just a quick list on the smaller issues - screen door never worked, closet doors never opened properly, the door intercom system didn't work when we moved in and still doesn't (so we have to go downstairs to let everyone in, but only if they can call us to tell us we are there)they have installed new ones that STILL don't work, parking is limited to 2 cars per apartment, but there are people in my building with 4 cars between 2 people and they take all the spaces so you are forced to park multiple buildings away, it is way too dark in the parking lot, and more recently, our front door locked entry to our building is broken so they disable the lock and never fixed it. It is going on a month with no locked entry & no one can tell me when there are plans to fix it. Nothing is down about the noise complaints or verbal/physical assaults that have occured into the early hours (4AM) on the weekends (mostly alcohol induced, I assume). So we have drunken assualts occuring outside our non-secured entry - Lovely. Now, to top it all off, we have an ant problem - ON THE 3rd FLOOR! I'm told that there is someone that comes ever couple of weeks to spray, but the office couldn't tell me what or where as I was concerned for my daughter that crawls on the floor. I've personally done the trap/spray thing because getting mangement to do anything is like pulling teeth, though the problem is still unresolved. They blow you off on the phone and are completely and blatently RUDE to your face in front of other residents as well as prospective renters. They cut off your statements and place the blame back on you, even if you approach them nicely about something. I have NEVER seen a business run like this. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for an apartment - Personally, I cannot wait to get out of there. It seems all the problems run back to the lack of efficient staff in the office - including the supposed manager.

I couldn't agree with you more!! We have one more month until we are out of here and we can not wait! Our key-less entry to our front door has been broken as well for months and months! Aside from most of the other problems you mentioned, we had a broken window that we noticed before we signed the lease. We explained to them that it must be fixed upon our move in...SIX months later, it was finally fixed! Oh and our A/C also went up around the end of April beginning of May when we had some very humid days. I called the management office to let them know, and that an occupant living with me has severe asthma and opening the windows is not an option. My response was " Its not summer yet, we will get to it when we can". Oh so because its not summer, we shouldn't turn on our A/C if we want? I thought I paid the BGE? Hope your out soon, because we are! And be aware that when you do move out, your expected to have your carpets professionally cleaned and give them the reciept, and even when you do, they may still CHARGE you to have them cleaned again or to replace your carpet! Isn't that nice?
