Issues abound, be prepared to deal with them.
When I moved in, in July 2008, I was unable to get A/C. The unit was broken, and after toying with it for a week, they finally concluded they would replace it. This took another week. The construction of the units is average at best, with shoddy and quick last minute paint jobs evident from paint splattered everywhere. The in unit washer and dryer are small and ineffecient.
Later that year, once it got cold enough to require heating, my heater didn't work because when they replaced the A/C, they didn't uprate the breaker which caused it constantly to trip. Another weak without heat. The lighting fixture in the kitchen broke, the kitchen faucet sprung several pinhole leaks and several small things around the apartment broke. The shower didn't drain properly, so stagnant water would sit in it and the bathroom would mold very quickly. The unit I was given was half subterrenean, inviting a host of infestations. Worst of all, when they began digging holes in front of the unit I was given for sewer work, the unit started flooding whenever it rained heavily, soaking the carpet with dirty rain water. Of course, they denied any litigation in the matter and charged me to have it cleaned.
The tenet in our unit made several claims about being a top ranking military officer with the title "Commodant", told us the unit was condemned by the US Fire Marshall, and that she owned the property. She also called the police and tipped them that someone was building chemical weapons, which of course was false. We had to vacate the building while they came in and searched and found nothing. Do they even screen their tenets before leasing to them'
Parking was a pain as well. Several times, I had to move my vehicles out of the spots, including the carport parking which is $40 extra. During the year, several asphault "rennovations" were done along with blacktop sealing. This required you to park on Tollgate road and deal with the constant traffic as you tried to enter and exit your vehicle on this narrow road.
The staff feigns friendliness to keep your from taking action. Best to be proactive and just AVOID LIVING HERE. It's not close to anything helpful. The Festival is across the street, but it's across MD-24 which is a pain to cross. In fact, to get anywhere, you have to use MD-24 which is a huge pain with all the traffic lights and heavy traffic.
There is very little redeeming about Calvert's Walk. Save yourself the trouble and rent elsewhere.
