Overall a Pretty Decent Place to Live

I share a 2 BR/2BA with a Den and I think the apartment itself is great. We have cathedral ceilings, a fireplace, a washer/dryer, I'm allowed to keep my dog (they do have breed and size restrictions, however) and easy access to I-95. This place is great if you're grown-up enough to enjoy, and want to pay for, the amenities.

I've dealt with the office staff a few times and they seem to be a little flaky but they're friendly. We've had to call Maintenance for a few things - our dishwasher wasn't draining properly and I think we may have had a problem with our washing machine at one point but both were fixed in a reasonable amount of time. The only thing is - the dishwasher door doesn't stay open properly when we're loading dirty dishes into it. But that's better than having dirty stinky water sitting in the bottom of it.

When we first moved in, we had a list of several things that needed to be taken care of (leaky kitchen sink, countertop needed to be caulked, touch up paint, etc) but I don't think any of it was ever done. I guess they don't really read the reports you fill out when you first move in so you may need to follow up with them.

Ew. One thing to note - I guess because we're in a somewhat woodsy area there are a lot of spiders in the Spring and Summer. I have found a few in my car and even on the third floor, we get them in the kitchen and bathrooms. I'm pretty grossed out by spiders but I signed a lease so I guess I'll have to live with them. I don't think much can be done about that.

The residents are mostly families with kids - some from the Proving Ground, others waiting for houses to get built in the area, and the rest are just permanent residents. It's kind of removed from any sort of nightlife but it's about 15 minutes away from The Avenue at White Marsh and about 30 minutes away from Towson. I think it takes about 15 minutes to get into downtown Bel Air too. There's a BJ's and a Target/Wal-Mart about 2 minutes down 95 and a grocery store and several fast food restaurants right across the street. Overall, I've lived here eight months and have enjoyed it. I will most likely renew my lease for another year - unless the rent increase is ungodly - but I'll let you know if it is. ;)
