I came to Barclay requesting a 2bedroom 2bathroom apartment and was shown an alternative 2bedroom 2bathroom with a den. I was told that the apartment I wanted isnt available and I would have to fill out a credit check. I did and was called back into the office 2 hours later to be told I was approved. I never signed an lease or was shown my actual apartment. Then I was told to bring in a $300.00 deposit for when the apartment becomes available. 5 days later I demanded to see what apartment my daughter and I would be moving into. I was told again that I would not be able to see the apartment. But was given a choice to see another apartment that was ready.
Once my friend and I saw the so called "READY TO MOVE-IN" apartment, we looked around and couldnt belive our eyes. There was DEAD ROACHES AND ALIVE ROACHES everywhere in the kitchen. My daught has bronchities and so do I, which Roaches would trigger an reaction to the bronchites. I immediately refused moving in. Im having so much trouble getting my deposit back from Barclay Squares. This place isnt honest and I'm furious. I am filing a smalls claim court proceeding. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE. Go someplace else.

Ask what "type" of deposit it is. It is against the law to take a security deposit if you dont move it. Read the fine print on your application. If it says ANYTHING other than a security deposit (whether its a "holding deposit" or the like) then you probabbly will not get it back.
Why? Because managemnt can say "you demanded to see your apartment before it was ready and you did" They can easily say it wasnt ready therefore thats why the roaches are there. IF you were given keys and already signed a lease, and the roaches were there if would be different. I know. I worked here many many years ago.
