not bad, definitely not the worst

Overall, the place is reasonably decent.
I have a 1 BR 800 square foot apartment in one of the garden-style buildings (basically a box). The aparment is fine - it's obvious that the walls have been painted quite a few times. The wall-to-wall carpet is fine. My aparment has one large living room/dining room area so it's a decent sized room.
Gas is included in the rent, but water is not (although the water bill is the same each month - $17 - and can be paid in the same check as the rent). I don't have any neighbors next door at the moment, but when I did I could hear them occasionally but not often. I sometimes hear footsteps above but not very much, and it's not very loud. The neighborhood is not bad where I am. I occasionally hear kids playing but not very often. The most I ever heard as far as hollering by the residents was when the power came back on after being out for a few days after a storm. Some noise that adds a bit of charm is hearing the ducks in a pond nearby. I mostly keep to myself and don't know other folks in the complex, but I have not seen any of the other residents being rude or obnoxious at any time.
Parking is pretty good - there are some assigned spaces and quite a few visitor's spaces. There is some on-street parking available as well in the area, and the only time I have had to resort to that (and even then it was not a long walk) was one time when I got back at about 3:00 a.m.
The washer and dryer in my unit are the kept underneath a countertop in the kitchen. The washer requires you to hook it up to the kitchen sink to use, which isn't great, but it is a washer. The washer rocks way too much, although it usually worked - up until just a few days ago when it died. Other than that, I have not had much of a need for maintenance service so I cannot comment on that.
The staff is a mixed bag - some people are ok, some are mediocre. When I got my renewal lease it was left in an envelope outside my door, which is rather irritating (and not safe!). Once I got a notice that I hadn't paid the rent (which I had) and then I realized it was not for my apartment but for the one directly below me. The staff there no longer accepts large packages - if you get one you will have to go to the post office, or UPS, or wherever, to receive it.
The place is not the cheapest but far from being the most expensive. When I moved in I got $100 off for a whole year because they were having a deal. I'm moving out because it's gone back to its normal price and I'm looking for something for less money, but it's certainly livable.
