Insight about this complex

Hi, we are "set" to move here in about 2 weeks and I am a but worried about the reviews. We are very clean and never had any bugs, are they that big of an issue' Also safety is very important to me, our apartment has a balcony but I think we are still considered on the "first" floor, even though we will have neighbors beneath us. I have a little girl and one child on the way and I am certain I do not want to move to a dangerous community. Are people robbed or cars stolen' During the day it seems like a decent place, we have visited the complex twice I believe once on a weekday afternoon and again on a saturday afternoon and all seemed safe enough. I called the local police station to get a crime report on the complex, I should hear back from someone Monday morning. I am just afraid to move to a dangerous community but I will break that lease and pay the fee gladly if things seem unsafe.
I would like to use the fitness center and it looked nice enough. Do people "hang out" alot infront of the buildings. My main concern like I said is safety my fiance works later hours and I don't want to fear for him coming home at night or fear for me and my children alone in the complex. Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thanks alot.

I have been here about a year now, and knock on wood have never had any problems, not with bugs, not with animals, not with the people, in fact it is always quiet here, other then hearing some foot steps and the occasional door shut, I wouldn't even be aware that I have neighbors. But I do believe it may be the building I am in and as other reviewers have said, some just may be worse than others. I have never felt unsafe here, i Get in after midnight some nights, and have never had any issues, its well lit and always good parking spots. But I think the research that you are doing on the building is great, and you have to know especially with having children that you feel safe, I would say you should be fine, but I only live in one building(a garden apartment) and I can't say how the rest of the complex is. I do use the fitness room, which is 24hrs and that is nice, not a ton of equipment to use, but it has what I need. Hope that helps!

When you are confronted with a situation like this, the best course of action is to talk to tenants and get there feed back. Visit different buildings, look around and if you are able, drive around at night. I read the reviews here and it sounds as if one review was written by management. The amount of negative feedback suggested I not rent here. Also, contact the police dept and ask for an analysis of the area with zip code and street. I will be moving to a complex in June but I did all of my homework before the move.

My car was broken into and the CD player stolen. While I was cleaning up the broken glass, TWO people from my complex stopped to talk to me and give sympathies, each independently saying their car was STOLEN! Ghetto kids have written "MS 13" all over the property. Car was towed because my registration was expired for TWO DAYS while carpooling to work($200 to get it back and it had a busted windshield, which cost $400 to replace after an hour fight with towing company manager). The neighborhood routinely places fliers on the apartments, I remember one stating that someone was held up at gunpoint in a laundry room. Our next door neighbors were drug dealers (fortunately they were just evicted for not paying rent). Maintenance is absolutely useless, our apartment is a leaking moldy dump that is getting insanely overpriced (but so is everything else around here). Water costs nearly $40/mo because of all the leaking faucets and toilets in the neighborhood. There's a guy who booms his stereo out of his conversion van in a parking lot constantly, that neighborhood refuses to evict (I've seen him PISS IN THE DUMPSTER TWICE, disgusting). Aimco doesn't give a crap. Find somewhere else to move, one more year and I'm out of here. The only good thing I can say is that we have no roaches or mice (although a rat climbed onto our balcony, chewed through the screen door, and entered our kitchen at night for a while before we scared the crap out of it). I've lived here for 5 years and seen it all...

I sure by now you've heard about the latest car break-ins, if not, you will, especially if you live near or in the back of the property buildings.
