LIVING NIGHTMARE

Don't listen to the good reviews posted by apartment management!!

I've lived here for over 5 years, and it has been one problem after another. Here's the latest one: someone has torn the mailboxes out of the wall for the entire floor in my building, and for over 2 weeks we have gotten no mail delivered. This wouldn't bother me if it were an isolated bad incident, and wouldn't bother me as much if the following events didn't ensue...

Maintenance manager says that they had to find the exact same mailbox unit to fit there, and they could only find 2 in the country (well duh, it's probably from the 1970s) and had to have it shipped through a distributor. They claimed it would arrive last Monday. Friday passes, nothing. I put up a note on the mailbox asking everyone to call maintenance daily and harrass them (clearly they need it), because they're lying to us about the timeframe for having it fixed. If they actually found a unit, there is no reason for not having it shipped 2-day mail. Someone previously had a note up saying for everyone to call Aimco headquarters but they couldn't get through to anyone there (big surprise).

The next morning my note is turned around and written on it is literally a threat from maintenance, [sic]:

"If you have the ball came see us in person, -maintenances"

I take the note to the main office and an employee shows it to the manager, and in front of my face they tell me they don't think any of their people wrote that, it doesn't look like their handwriting (it looks EXACTLY like the handwriting and grammar I've had on many of my maintenance tickets). Any place even faking customer service would at least tell you they'd look into it and seek disciplinary action, even if they didn't actually do anything. I ask why they couldn't just tear a hole in the wall and put in a NEW mailbox unit and the manager lies to my face again, saying that they're trying to find ANY mailbox unit (lies, lies, lies).

To top it all off this weekend, we have no water service due to yet ANOTHER water main leak. If you move here, expect to have no water in your apartment at least 5-10 days/year.

We're leaving when our lease is up this summer and getting the hell out of this neighborhood and the hell out of entire DC area. DON'T MOVE HERE!!! Find something private on craiglist, anything but one of these corporate profit-driven hellholes, just search on other AIMCO properties to view their fabulous record.
