RUN! Do NOT rent here!

Words cannot describe the hell. Do not rent from AIMCO.
Imagine going to work one day, all is well. Then you get a call that the fire dept. busted down your door because they thought a pipe burst in your apt due to the tremendous amt. of water coming thru the light of the person below.
No, it was a roof leak. Several leaks.
You see, AIMCO had a list of roofs to replace. Our building wasn't on the list, which apparently had no connection to actual roof condition or inspection. I can see one leak or maybe 2 in an older bldg. even with good inspection, but not the type of catastrophic roof failure where there are numerous leaks all over the top floor (2 weeks prior the other end of the bldg had a lot of leaks).
Moreover, despite the roofers trying 2 or more times, these leaks COULD NOT BE FIXED.
Did they throw a tarp over the roof' No. Despite being in our apt. and seeing a ton of water, maintenance did not bother to even take OUR OWN TRASH BAGS and try to cover anything, or move the bed away from the main leak (possibly saving the bed)--despite my laptop sitting on the bed.
I came home to find my boyfriend using a hair dryer on the bed. 24 hour maintenance would not do anything. In fact it was 1:30 and later the next day (they open at 9) before they brought a dehumidifier and the carpet people came.
In your own house you would call the 24 hour emergency carpet people, right' Because the longer the water sits there, more chance of mold.
We missed work. They "fixed" the roof, and we worked to clean the rest. But, our bed was lost. I researched on the internet and even called a company which boasted "we cleaned the Pentagon after 9-11"-- no one could help us. If the water had been clean, maybe we could have saved it. But it wasn't clean.
I had to pitch a fit, by the way, to even get a dehumidifier or any help by 1:30. Yeah, they called the carpet guys, but they would not move any furniture and my boyfriend was supposed to move the wet heavy bed by himself'''
Maybe this will explain the mentality here: in an 8 floor bldg with a roof leak, where did they put a bucket'
IN THE LEASING OFFICE ON THE 1ST FLOOR. Seriously, you should be really worried about a place if you go in and they have a bucket on the first floor of a high rise to catch water from a roof leak. The 7 floors of apts. between were all getting wet.
