You do not want to live here!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
When I moved here, I didn't think it could be that bad. I was wrong. I wish I had found this web site first and read the other reviews. These apartments are old - there is no insulation in the walls and the windows are only single pane glass - in the winter the cold air just pours off from the windows and the walls so you need to run your heater all the time. In the summer the hot air just pours off the windows and the walls and the A/C needs to be on all the time. The floors and walls have no soundproofing materials in them - if someone in an adjoining apartment is playing their stereo or has their TV on - even at a low volume - you're going to hear it. The lady who lives above me doesn't seem to have a job and is home 24/7 and she is big. She stomps when she walks and the floors creak at the same time and it's just amazing that the noise she makes when she is simply walking around. She also seems to be some kind of an insomniac too - she's up all the time during the night stomping around with the floors creaking and squeaking. It is truly unbelievable. There's a washer and a dryer in the apartment but the capacity on them is so small, if you're more than one person living there - you'll need to do laundry every single day. The washer and dryer vibrate the whole floor in the kitchen and I can tell when the lady above me is doing laundry as I'm sure my neighbors below me can tell when I'm doing laundry. The washer needs to be rolled over to the sink and connected to the faucet. The dryer just vents into the kitchen which is nice in winter as it helps heat the apartment. Just remember that it helps heat the apartment in summer as well, so the A/C works twice as hard. Plus, it takes an hour-and-a-half minimum to dry a load. As other reviews have stated - the parking situation is ridiculous. These apartments were made when most families only had one car and I find myself parking in front of other buildings all the time because all the spaces nearby are gone or filled up. The other review about mold in the toilets is true. If you don't scrub your toilet every 3 to 4 days, little black mold spots start to appear. I can truly say that I don't seem to have the roach problem that other reviews mention. My girlfriend (only stays over from time to time) killed a roach in the kitchen about two weeks after I moved in and then I saw and killed one in the bath tub a few days later and after that, I didn't really see anymore. When I moved in, I kept having a problem with leaky faucets and it took them more than one attempt to fix the problem. My mailbox is so tiny - I end up going to the post office about every other day to pick up the CD's and DVD's that I order. As I-95 is right around the corner - the road noise from cars and trucks is constant and never-ending. Between my "stomping" neighbor and the noise from I-95, I find that I ususally have to sleep with foam earplugs. One night around 4:00 AM or so, I heard half a dozen "pops" - which must have been gunshots reverberating around in the courtyard. Granted, this was a single isolated incident, but I feel I should warn you anyway. When another apartment in my building was broken into, I called the management office to find out and they wouldn't tell me what had happened. If my safety is involved - I think I should have been warned. I do not feel that safe living here. Be good to yourself and find somewhere else to live. When my lease is up, I'm leaving and I would never, ever live here again - even if it were the last place on earth. I do not recommend Lighthouse at Twin Lakes for a place to live. I can't say this enough: DO NOT LIVE HERE.
