NICE APTS, but NOISY and THIN WALLS

I totally agree with the previous post that complained about the noise between the walls. The way I see it - it depends on what you are willing to deal with. The apartment styles at the Lighthouse are very nice, but it's everything else about the building that sucks. I originally moved into a 1st floor apt., and had to be transferred because the noise upstairs, the noise from the front door slamming everytime entered the building, and seeing several ROACHES in my apt., were unbearable.
I now live on the 3rd Floor, which I thought would alleviate my problems, but it does not. The walls are so thin that I hear my neighbors on one side having sex almost every night, and always at about 1am, so I get no sleep, and end up sleeping on my couch. The neighbors on the other side of me smoke weed all the time, and the vapors come through the vents to my apt., so in order to avoid second hand smoke, I leave and come back later. Then the neighbors downstairs have what sounds like movie-theater quality surround sound speakers, so everytime they are watching an action movie, or listening to mucic, my floors vibrate.
If it is a short-term move, or if you can deal with thin walls, in order to have a nice apartment, then maybe the Lighthouse is for you.
I need to stay in an apt. for maybe the next 2 years until I can buy a home, so I will be moving in the next couple of weeks, now that my lease is up. I cannot take 2 more years of this....
But to each his own....

I don't blame you. I am so ready to move out here and I have only been here for 2 months! The neighbors upstairs have what seems to be a surround sound system. It seems that they have the bass on the floor too. So when I went upstairs to complain one night their music wasn't loud it was just the bass was turned up too much and most of it was going into their floor, which is my ceiling!
Good luck with your move and hopefully you'll find something better!

Yes, I am looking for something now. I want to be closer to Silver Spring because I work in Bethesda, but I may just end up moving back to Laurel, where I lived before moving to the Lighthouse. I don't want to move somewhere else and encounter the same problems. We'll see.
