I decided to write a review because this site tends to only get the bad ones.

PMV is an ok place to live. Definitely check it out if considering. The management are very good and the maintenance has been good in my experience. My fridge died and they put in a new one and moved all my food over while I was away that very night before any of the food thawed too much.

The thing I suggest most about moving here is to look at the building you are moving into. Some have worse locations than others. I moved into #326 and that was a great location. Also check out your room. They are nice apartments, but depending on where it is it can be bad. One apartment I looked at had the master bedroom underground with the window peeking out through a gutter! The apartment I settled with has a huge (almost full wall) window in the bedroom, which was pretty cool. Spacious walk in closet too.

The 2 bedroom apartments have one huge bedroom and one small one. My roommate seemed to get along well in his small room. Our apartment has hardwood flooring, which was cheaper and looks pretty sharp. It does accumulate a lot of dust though, and loud music could carry through the floors more. I'm looking forward to being able to vacuum the carpeted floors in my next apartment.

I did not have a noise problem here, though I had to turn the bass down on my movies and music so as not to disturb the people above me. I could hear the people above me walking (stomping') pretty often, but that's not too bad. You get used to it. No other sounds carried through.

There were some roaches in the kitchen. You can keep it down to a minimum by keeping things clean and not leaving stuff in the sink. It is a manageable problem as long as you're not afraid to see a bug now and then (unlike my girlfriend). It may depend on the building, I don't know. It's a common occurrance in the CP/DC area. I've read much worse about other places. I was on the middle floor of the building.

The parking is not good at nighttime, but this just means you have to walk down the sidewalk for a bit after you park. During the day it's fine. Guests can park til midnight in the lot, after that you need a pass. There is also free parking on the side road (Evans Trail), though that also fills up at night.

Utilities are included, and they have gas stoves. The AC/heating is switched twice a year, i.e. you only get one or the other at a time. There are a couple weeks each season when they really should have switched it over already but were probably holding out to save money. After that it's fine and I had no problems.

The pool requires a membership, which I never bothered to pay for. The basketball courts just got torn down due to loitering (there is a high school next door) and the tennis courts are locked during the cold months. I never used any of these, though I would have liked to.

Rent was very reasonable, even moreso if you have students living in the apartment ($30 discount each). The UM Shuttle Bus also stops here, though it is about a 40 minute ride to campus.

The Calverton shopping center is a block away, and I-95 is just another block from that. The shopping center has a Giant grocery store as well as fast food, CVS, dry cleaner, SunTrust and BB&T banks, and a liquor store. There are some other places not far down Cherry Hill too: Target, Jerry's, Popeye's, Electionics Boutique, Starbucks, Chipotle. There's a Loew's movie theater next door too, and it's a good theater (compared to Ghettobelt Mall down 193, at any rate). You can walk there if so inclined, and I think they have student discounts.

Overall, this is a good place to live for a UM student or recent grad who wants to live in the College Park area in an affordable place. A lot of families live here too, and many of the residents are pleasant and friendly. I'm moving to Seven Springs now that I can afford it, but my year here has little cause for complaint. Just take a look at your building and apartment before you rent to make sure it's a good location.
