Townley Can Be A Double Edged Axe

Without getting into too much detail about my life -- I lived in Townley from Sept 2001 - May 2002. Last May, I moved back into Townley into a 1 bedroom apartment.
There are many good things that I can say about Townley and many not so good things so I'll give you a taste of both.
My initial impressions were favorable. Rhonda Palmes is the apartment manager and is most likely the most cheerful person you have probably ever met. She is very informative and makes you feel really special.
Many other reviewers have commented on the slow maintenance time and the "everything is ok" attitude that the staff has towards issues; I had a similar experience. Within the first 3 months of me moving in I experienced a problem with my garbage disposal which I called repeatedly about. I was assured that the disposal was new and it had been changed prior to my moving in. Finally, after many visits from the maintenance department, my disposal was replaced and I have not had any issue since.
The grounds at Townley are excellent. The groundskeepers sweep and clean every morning around 9 o'clock and keep the place looking great. The buildings all look new and routinely duties such as repainting the foyer areas and exterior wood is announced well before hand and performed timely. Townley releases monthly calendars with information about this kind of stuff.
Parking can be problematic. In the winter months it is never a problem whatsoever. But now that the summer has started things get to be kind of aggrevating. I get home at a late hour most weeknights and sometimes have to park around corners in front of buildings far away from my own. They do not have any form of assigned parking deal like most places instead they use parking permits and issue vistor parking passes. The issue here is that most cars do not use either of these and past 10PM are supposed to be considered Towable which never seems to happen. Vistor tags are supposed to be used for temporary usage by vehicles not permanently sitting in spaces. This does not deter people from parking a car and not moving it for 3 months in a great space in front of the building.
There is a security guard that "polices" the area around townley between 6PM-6AM but he tends to be more of a nusance than usful. The worst things that he does are:
-Park across multiple GOOD spaces in front of buildings (for no apparent reason)
-Point his movable headlamp into oncoming driver's faces...essentially blinding you; as well as pointing it at buildings' windows facing the street as late as 2am filling your dark room with light and keeping you up
-Entering buildings at night for no apparent reason
I had an issue with the washer/dryer in the basement that got resolved. The 1 dryer in my building was broken and Rhonda called the people in charge and they took it out and stuck a double dryer unit in. What a godsend.
As others have stated, some of the other staff can be moody most of the time. I usually just ask for Rhonda(which most of the time she isn't around). That's all I'm gonna say about that.
Well -- those are my experiences over the past year. Hope it helps you to make an informed decision. =)

I can honestly say that the security guard light-in-the-window and taking up 2 parking spaces could be annoying at times, but what's the alternative? Not having security? This is not a nice neighborhood, so having the security there is a plus.
