So so place to live

Townley had its good and bad points. When I first moved in in Aug. 2003 we had a problem with roaches. We bought boric acid and placed it along the walls of the rooms... this worked much better than any of the spraying done by the management. We had no problems after that but the routine roach spraying made us empty out all of the cabinets in our kitchen a few times a year.
The location was good for a UMD student, not too far from campus and near a good supermarket (Superfresh) and Target. However, it was a nightmare trying to turn right in the morning onto Cherry Hill. There is a suicide lane which helps, however, a few times I was actually passed by people trying to get one car ahead of me before the light at Powder Mill... by them cutting into the suicide lane and speeding past... to go one car length ahead before sitting at the light!
The main reason I left was because of the noise. I felt pretty safe there... nothing bad ever happened crime wise to me, my roomates, or any of our cars. However, people were very LOUD in and outside of my apartment. It seemed like people were throwing parties in the parking lot sometimes right outside my window. By this I mean up to 10 people standing outside laughing and talking loudly while someone left the radio in their car blasting at times from 11 to 2am. Frequently I would feel my room vibrating because a neighbor had the bass on their music turned very loud... and I could definitely hear the words to the songs the neighbor was playing. This was typically in the morning or early afternoon.
Anyway, all this said... Townley was one of the better places to live in the area for that price. I'd definitely favor it over Graduate Gardens or Hills. The people in the main office were friendly, at least. They actually know the names and faces of all of the residents! I was impressed with that.
