The fact that this Avalon is a luxery property is a joke. There are CONSTANTLY break-ins in the parking garages. Since the early fall, there have been 8 that they actually notified us about. My roomate's boyfriend had his stereo stolen out of his locked car and Avalon never reported it. The noise in the hallways is unacceptable. My neighbors were constantly making excessive noise and I called the police 3 or 4 times. I also notified Avalon "management" before that and they told me there was not much they could do--that I should call the police. Nothing was solved. There are constantly strange kids hanging around after office hours by the gym, which made me feel very unsafe, as they were probably the ones breaking into cars. There are too many shadey characters, as they offer moderate housing leases to families of 17. The "management" did not exist. The manager was on leave and they seldom had a manager available to speak with. The only good thing is that the building service workers were very considerate and would come make repairs in an instant. The avalon staff also failed to tell us that our lease would be renewed if we so chose to renew it until LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE OUR LEASE ENDED. No matter how many phone calls asking if we get a renewal letter or not, they didn't care. PLEASE, this place is not worth $2300. You could have a luxury apartment in downtown Bethesda for that amount and not deal with an amateur Avalon staff. Hey, if you want to deal with constant noise at 4 am when you have to work the next day, get your car broken into, and deal with a staff that doesn't care--feel free to move right in. The atmosphere is not pleasant. Go downtown Bethesda. Don't move here!

I second a lot of what this poster has said. (I did not know that there were that many break ins). I've seen all those kids, too -- high school aged kids -- and I wonder why the complex lets them kind of rule over the gym, the computer room and the party room at night.(I've seen office staff working late while these kids are around and I am assuming that they tolerate them). I try now to avoid the gym in the evening because they sort of just hang around there on the equipment not really using it and it makes it difficult for those of us who are trying to do real workouts and rotate through all of the equipment. It also annoys me that these kids get to run free through the party room every night but if we want to use it, we have to pay $250. We've had serious noise problems, too. Finally, the poster is quite right that the maintenance staff are very attentive, capable and friendly.
