Lots of problems, but doubtful the management will fix!

I really like the apartment, BUT . . .
The primary problem is lack of security. If your ideal life is locked in your apartment with the security alarm on, then you will love this place. However, if you want to go out after dark, I highly recommend against living here. This is my first apartment in the Bethesda area, but every place else I have lived the complex provided a night patrol. Someone to call if there is noise, disturbance or a car inappropriately parked. Here, you need to call the police. Who calls the police for a loud stereo' While there does not appear to be any serious criminals in the area, there are break-ins, vandalism and kids smoking pot. The courtyards also are a haven for late night socializing. If you collect empty beer cans, you will be in heaven. For $2K a month ?? this is ridiculous. This place NEEDS TO A HIRE SECURITY PATROL!
A previous review which commented about bugs (millipedes) is exactly right! You name it - they all reside here - millipedes, ants, roaches, and spiders. I do not understand why the management does not spray more outside-and-in. I know several residents ?? 4th floor ?? who have significant problems ?? so you know the building is infested big time. SPRAY FOR BUGS!
From talking with my neighbors, there seems to be a lot of pressure from management to get carpets to last 5-6 years. My carpet was a disaster when I moved in. I have had to cover up the spots with throw rugs. As my neighbors have moved out they said their damage deposit was taken based on carpet deductions. They love to take your deposit ?? so do not expect it back. PUT IN NEW CARPET!
What apartment complex does not have crappy management ?? and this is no different. Clearly there are many young inexperienced people in the office here. Do not be surprised if they have to look at their own nametag to know how to answer the phone. I am not even sure there is a manager on site. You will always need to wait for assistance. HIRE MORE AND HIRE EXPERIENCE!
Did I mention CONSTRUCTION' Yes there is a mega-construction site next door. When you visit here, just look for the BIG CRANE. Right now it is a big ditch, but construction is starting on several large towers. So hopefully you are an early riser because they will be starting at 6:30 am. The road into the complex is very narrow; just imagine they will need to bring everything to build two large towers up that road.
As I mentioned, overall the apartments are quite nice ?? clearly this is why people rent here. However, the turnover is high and you will be moving out soon. The problems here are fixable and inexpensive. The management simply needs to be pro-active ?? but there is no sign of that happening.

Wow, I'm stunned to be reading this - I was thinking the EXACT same thing about this place. There are so many things that don't seem that difficult to fix, and would make this complex a FAR better place to live, but the management (what little there is, if at all) doesn't seem to care. Security is a JOKE, as people are constantly tailgating into the garage behind you. Cars are OFTEN waiting by the entrance to follow you in - parking is a free for all, and there are no locks on the entrances from the garage into the hallways. Cameras? Sure, they're being installed, but who's actually watching? My guess is no one! The management barely has the time or resources to handle the day to day affairs, and they're typically too young and inexperienced to be effective anyway. I also agree that the courtyards are hangouts for people who don't seem to have a job they need to get up for the next morning. The gym and business center are also constantly full of people loitering. But of course there's no one to call about it, but the police. |

As for the bugs, collect them in plastic bags and call the health dept. They will come and assess and then will send a letter to apt managemnt to fix the problem. If not, you can break your lease. Fight back, make them fix it. Renters have rights too. Call the cops for the noise and loitering...
