Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
We are getting ready to leave Avalon at Rock Springs after living here for a year. I have truly enjoyed the area (the apt is in a wonderful location) and I think that the community is very well kept. The community offers a small gym with all of the basics which I used on a daily basis and found it to be more than enough for me. The office staff is very nice and helpful...I never ran into an issue that they weren t very helpful to get resolved. There is always more than enough parking and the garage is a true plus that I am going to miss. I don't understand the way guest parking works...you have to change out the window pass daily...so if someone is staying for the weekend you have to ensure that you put a new updated pass in the car window everyday or the car WILL BE TOWED.
There are however a few things that I did not enjoy. The floors and walls are paper-thin. Our neighbors below liked to play their music with a lot of base and very loud...one day I came home to vibrating windows. The neighbors above have a young child that likes to jump off of the couch, the bed, chairs, etc and many times I though he/she would end up in our living room. You also hear many other things that happen in apartments which I will not elaborate on. The only other complaint is the energy efficiency of the apartment .IT SUCKS!!!! We lived in the large 2-bedroom which are located on the ends of the buildings. This apartment has 5 windows that face the sun for a large part of the day and the windows don t hold the heat out or the cool air in. Our bill jumped from 60-80 dollars in the winter to 230-260 in the summer. I don t think our a/c ever cut off.
All in all, I love the apartment the location, the look, the amenities but I didn t enjoy the fact that I pay a lot of rent money and have to put up with inconsiderate neighbors and electric bill as much as my sister pays on her single family home. Though I would recommend the community, I would caution you to not get an apartment on the end of the building and to try to secure a top floor apartment so that you would only have to deal with loud neighbors below (unless you get lucky).
