OK - but expensive

I am moving to the area for a job relocation and I visited the Palisades. I was very excited about the community from its online description, but the Palisades didn't really live up to my expectations.
Let me say that the building is quite attractive, but the neighborhood left a little more to be desired. Not that the neighborhood is dangerous, but the quality of the building just didn't seem to quite fit the area. Perhaps some people would consider the area "charming". But if I am paying luxury rent, I expect a luxury building in a luxury neighborhood - and this neighborhood was not "luxurious".
The facilities were great, but the apartment I was shown was not so hot. The view from the window is just terrible (powerlines and raggedy building roofs) and all in all, there was just nothing special about the apartments to justify the $1700 a month rent (and $125 per month parking).
Also BEWARE of breaking a lease! I was shocked to learn that if you break a lease (past the 30 day "trial period"), you will have to pay out the lease - I was floored by this one.
Bottom line - nice, but not worth the price. If you can luck up on one of the cheaper apartments, it may be worth it - but I would look elsewhere.
