No longer worth the premium

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I moved in earlier this year when the building wasn't very occupied. At that time, it was quiet and there weren't many problems. Now, with most of the units populated, the lack of soundproofing is a complete nuisance.
I hadn't heard much between walls, but there is absolutely no soundproofing around the doors. (I see someone else mentioned that a while ago.) There are big gaps where weatherstripping should be in place that admit every sound or smell from the halls. Because there are more people, there are more random noises, it's just the way things go. Every door opening and closing can be heard in every other apartment on the floor, especially since the doors "slam" loudly if let go while closing.
It's particularly bad if you're on a floor with smokers or children, so if you're convinced that this is the place to live, check out the floor where you'd be living. They claim it's a quiet, luxury building, but these claims are false because of these issues. It's not really worth the price when larger apartments are available next door for much less.
