convenient location is all this place has
this community has a small problem with burglary/peeping toms/car vandalism
recently an armed robbery occurred on the path to the metro ?? and just a few months ago a resident woke to find two individuals in his unit - they beat him then tied him up and robbed him
maintenance isn??t great, but the place is ancient
management is unpleasant to deal with
the bathroom walls and hvac closets are full of mold (they keep this quiet because the county would have them make major renovations)
don??t live in a unit above the trash room ?? your place will stink
If you enjoy U-turns / and terrible parking by you weird and nosey neighbors - this is the place for you
Do you enjoy listening to others use the bathroom' (then you will love it here as the walls virtually transparent)
if your neighbors phone rings - you will hear it
a moderately audible conversation in the stairway can be heard from any apartment in the unit
and if that wasn??t enough people slam their doors constantly (it sounds like a gun shot)
If you have guests they must park on the street ?? or face being towed by the worst tow company in the county G&G Towing ?? your car will be damaged and they will not be accountable
?? the rules go on and on (another review claimed ??living with big brother?? ?? they are correct)
Horrible experience!

I'm a little surprised at this review. I've lived here two years. Every month, the community sends out a newsletter with the crime report. Every month, the crime section reads "pleased to report that no crimes have been reported" or "tenant reported scratched bumper on car". I'll admit, there was an unfortunate robbery that happened a few months back. Some time before that, I remember reading about a peeping tom that someone reported.

But the fact that all this was big, big news and freaked everyone out shows the absurdly low level of crime here. Instead of obsessing over a couple of freak crimes, which could happen anywhere, call up our local police department and get the actual numbers. Crime happens here, as it happens anywhere, but it's very rare compared with the surrounding areas. As a single women walking alone at night, I've always felt completely comfortable and safe here.

I haven't had the other experiences that this poster mentions, but since Parkside is so big, I guess it's possible. If you rent in this complex, your apartment will be individually owned by the landlords, and THEY handle things like maintanence, mold, etc. Sounds like this poster didn't have a very nice landlord, and it sounds like their neighbors didn't park their cars very well either. Both of which are a pity, but it seems a little silly to blame it on Parkside.

I'm also puzzled about the poster's problems with parking. Parkside does limit parking in its lots to residents-- which, if you stop and think about it, makes sense. I know I would complain if they didn't. However, guests are allowed to park anywhere on the street. At least on Weymouth, where I live, there's always tons of room on the street. I'm puzzled how someone managed to get towed.

I actually agree. Going on my third year of ownership I actually can't wait to get out. The walls ARE paper thing, I hear everything my neighbors talk about, everytime someone goes in and out of the trashroom and such. God forbid my cutrains were baboo and not white and I got written up. I can't have any pets, yet we have deer, foxes, rabbits, beavers and everything else under the sun ON MY PATIO. It is retarded. I originally bought in Parkside for the convenience of work and the value, but there are way too many things that are outweighing those small values. Any rediculous thing is the condo fee. The management boasts that it didn't raise for 5 years from 96-01, but check the turn around from those dates to know. Half the units have been bought and sold so therefore IT DOES NOT APPLY TO US. The only thing I have seen in my condo fee is go up now over 35% since I first bought. How on earth do I use $430 worth of water and power when I live alone and like most people my age, are never there. To top it off, my laundry card literally broke in half in the machine last night. I have now called and emailed the HOF laundry system, lets see how long it will take to get that straightened out. Meanwhile I have to hang dry my clothes, but wait, I can't do that in broad daylight or I will be written up. By the way, I know they were grandfathered in, but not one unit it handicap accessible, ok, maybe 3 are total but thats it.
