There are two styles of apartments/condos here. I have experience with the ones that have balconies and no radiators. (Sections III-V) The landscaping is great -- there are lots of trees. The neighborhood is close to a Metro -- within 10-15 minute walk, depending where in the neighborhood your unit ois located. Hardwood floors are in some units, and they are nice. Each is individually owned, so kitchens and baths can be old or updated. You have to see the unit you would rent/buy to know what you're getting.
The location is wonderful, and these are bargains in the area.
Drawbacks:
Laundry is in the basement, not your unit.
The water is noisy: The bedrooms are next to the bathrooms, so you can hear the water squealing when another person in your unit showers and (to a lesser, but sometimes annoying, extent) when your neighbors shower.
There is very little noise-proofing, if any. Teh noise travels more up and down than side-to-side. But if you are in the hallway and talking, people can hear it in their living rooms, unless you are very quiet.
You can't control when the heat and air-conditioning are turned on. There is a central cut-over to air in the spring and to heat in the fall. Once the heat or air is on, you control the temperature, but Parkside Condo mangement controls when you finally get heat in the fall and when you finally get air in the spring.

Summary: I like renting there, but wouldn't buy there.
