Paying For Location, Not Amenities, Service, or Security

I have lived here since October of last year and things have just been "okay." I am paying on the lower-end of the rent scale for Bethesda, but there's a reason for that. This building was built a long time ago (1960's I think) and I don't think anything (including the elevators) have been renovated since then. I stayed with a friend here last summer before (stupidly) deciding to live here. When I stayed with him for a month the shower was working for maybe 10 of the 31 days I was there. The weak and rather 'simple' maintenance staff here tried to fix it themselves (I seriously think I saw one of them put chewing gum over a leak in the pipes) about five times before the incompetant property managers decided to cave and call a real plumber. Thankfully I was out of work at the time, but my friend had to drive downtown to use his shower at work. When you're paying over $1000 to live in an apartment, the least there should be is running water...is that so much to ask in the 21st century' Also, the assistant property manager (who's unbelievably incompetant) told me they had spent something like $200,000 to fix the elevators. I seriously want to know what that money went towards besides paying the jackass who shut down one of only two garage elevators everyday for nearly three months. The elevators here are even more stupid than the property managers, if that's possible. Most elevators run on logic...these elevators are members of the Bush administration. As for parking, the garage door is left open a good portion of the time, inviting all the local delinquents to park their pimped-out 1985 honda civics in our lot, which we residents pay $85/month for. Plus, they have a sign that says "towing enforced." However, I have trouble manuevering around that crackhead-designed garage in my Jeep...so how the hell is a tow truck supposed to fit in there, back up, lift a car, and drive out' And I have never once seen a Triangle Towers staff member actually walk around the lot checking peoples' hangtags...even though they're so meticulous about making sure all the residents are up-to-date with them. As for the construction nextdoor, they definitely start way before they're legally allowed to, and they illegal aliens that redid our sidewalk and driveway aprons after tearing them up to lay the piping for the new building completely screwed it up, used cheap-ass concrete, and now you need a four-wheel drive vehicle just to get into the frickin' garage. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And I haven't even gotten to the problems with my specific apartment yet! For the first two months I did not have heat...Pat, the head-up-his-ass moron assistant property manager kept making empty promises, the 'simple' maintenance crew kept trying to unsuccessfully fix it, then the property manager, Diana, finally realized how incompetant Pat was being, apologized to me, and made sure my heat was working within 24 hours. It started working, but still wasn't nearly adequate. I just gave up on trying to get them to really fix it properly. Now it's starting to get hot out, and the air conditioning is anything but adequate...not even gonna try this time. I can't wait to move into a building that gives me value for my money. Pro: Cheap rent; Cons: Everything besides the rent.
