I moved in almost a year ago and its sad that I have come across so many neighbors in my complex who don?t want to renew they lease. I am going to keep it real on both sides on the fence here.
On the good side:
My laundry facility is clean and has cable and is close to my apartment
My apt. was newly remodeled and all appliances were new
Upon moving in maintenance requested were taken care of
Ample parking (same lot as rental office)
Huge apt square foot wise nice closet space
On the bad side:
1st week in my apartment I had toilet waist (urine & feces) floating up into my tub every time someone in my apt or the apt above me flushed the toilet. Urine came from the mechanical room and poured in my apt also from up under the front door. On a good note maintenance took this as a priority and a contractor redid the wrongfully newly installed plumbing and my carper in the living room was cleaned. The landlord is famous for leaving notes and junk on my door every other week there seems to be something the landlord must address or inform you of. Apartments are based on income meaning they WILL be in your business 24 7. You must certify and recertify once a year. Within the year I've received notices (9 to date) that the landlord would be inspecting my apartment. When I asked what they were inspecting for I got the run around as to what the nature or logic behind the inspection was. I was told since I share a parking lot with the rental office my sticker was not needed and my lot "was not towed" 8 months into my lease I get towed! After a memo to the landlord on the situation at hand they responded my putting notices on everyone?s doors recanting the statement and offering no resolution to the individual problem. I had an inspection of everything in the apt to ensure I was satisfied nothing was damaged you know the regular. My one request was the kitchen exhaust fan was extra loud so loud it shook the wall I was told it?d be fine when you move in. To this date the maint people came in broke the cover to the fan (June) I called to have it fixed daily at 9am 12pm and 3pm (July) after speaking with the head of maint someone left a "parts on order notice for me" well its (Sept) now and I still got my parts on order notice.
Off the top of my head:
I don?t like thin walls but hey if you in my business I'm yours. The "youngins" on the corner and all in front of the store, I blame they parents and Bladensburg police who will park they car in the lot but wont remove the people standing there. A word to the "youngins" move your stash buddy I pass to the bus stop twice a day I know where they stash spots are why don?t the police. lol And if one more kid look at me like I'm crazy for wanting to walk down the steps that they butts are sitting on in the middle of the courtyard I'mma pay for they parents to send them to a moral classes. I hate for the landlord to have apts. based on income meaning if you make to much you cant move in (this allows for sec 8 and lower income families to be able to afford good housing out side of housing projects" but they allow the complex tow trucks to charge 150 to tow your car .8 miles down the road ( yes I mapped it) and 30 dollars a day if you don?t pick it up within 24 hours. Hmm do they get a cut or what' You get free cable but its always going out without a severe thunderstorm. You are not allowed to call Comcast for cable the landlord will turn them away if they show up; they only let you contact their provider Moonbeam communications who has a handy automatic voicemail line to accept all your calls. They do not provide anyone services such as high speed Internet you just pray your cable is on when you got the New BET awards coming on! BET is the most watched channel in my household and is the most often..... Searching for digital signal. Check your lease good cause you can't mount a dish to anything without their consent nor can you hang pictures on the thin walls (it's written in my lease" I don?t have some of the problems in Phase 1 cause I knew moving in not to get a apt. there I moved from Park Place Towers and knew the neighborhood but phase 2 was so secluded I tried it and out of my year my biggest complaint would be the Landlord and along with the other 3 people who moved in the same weekend as I did I hope to carry my business elsewhere in a few short weeks when my lease ends.
